I've thought I had it narrowed down to a Savage 12 FV and a Tikka T3 lite in .308. Now I've added the 30-06 vs. the .308 into the mix. What does your experience tell me? Think either or are great calibers, but if it were me and I was expecting to hunt grizzlies, I think I would probably opt for something more along the lines of a .338 win mag. Yes but so will a .223 on whitetail. I personally would buy the one you like and then borrow a rifle if youre going to hunt browns. JMHO... I son'r know anything about the rifles you mentioned. However, I do own a 30-06 in the Remington 700 and Winchester Model 70 flavors and will say that they are both shooters. I do not, however, own a .308. It is my opinion that either round will serve you well, excluding the grizzly option. I do most of my whitetail deer hunting with a Browning .270 and I like the rifle very much and shoot it well. I have had it for many years and I am acclimated to it. So there is my .02 cents. If you decide that you are interested in a Remington, Winchester or a Browning, I can give my opinions on each one of those as well. Best of luck!!! The .30-06 is an awesome caliber for medium sized game. But for grizzlies I'd be looking for something with a bit more power like .300 Win Mag, .338 Win Mag, .300 WSM, .325 WSM range. Not saying a .30-06 wouldn't kill them if you hit them where you wanted. Heck a .22 Magnum would kill it if you hit it right between the eyes.
