Solocam
:mad:I just can't take it anymore! I think I need to find something else to do these days.......cause I just can't take the BS anymore see here in Maryland we can take six bucks and 30 does. In the archery zone you can take as meny does as you want. This is no joke you can take deer till your blue in the face!!! Well, this is my problem the farm I hunt...plus the town I live in, has this group......we call them "the outlaws" that come onto everyone land and hunt, pooch, do whatever they want. When you try to turn them in to DNR they have some way of getting out of trouble. I just don't understand why they do this, there is lot of land around to hunt alot of deer to hunt and take but its like they want everything for themselfs. Well, this Monday is first day of Archery and I went to the farm last night to pull the cards on my trail cams.....well looks like "the outlaws" are now into stealing!!! I just don't under stand it with all the deer we can take here and the all the land in the area that you can hunt why is there so much breaking the law going on?!?!? It really just takes the fun out of hunting anymore!!! I don't care if I get meat to fill the freezer or a big rack buck to hang on the wall...shoot I don't care if I don't get anything just as long as I get to hunt!!! But, I guess not everyone can be like me!!! Sorry Guys and Gals just need to vent!?!?!?!:(:( p.s. Sorry the spelling and gramer it early! OUTDOORLIFE3
yea it really sucks that in every state there are a large group of guys who put out a horrible reputation for the hunters...i feel for you
Jeramie
It only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch. If they start the same stuff again I would call the DNR offices directly. Skip the wardens. I would also call the local paper and see if they would be interested. The more exposure this gets the quicker it will stop. wtnhunt
Don't feel too bad, our state wildlife folks here have had this funny idea in recent years that allowing for does to be killed at a rate of 3 does a day per hunter in an area where the deer density is 15 deer per sq mile is somehow a good idea. Will be interesting to see what the excuses are for harvest numbers off again next year if the trend continues. Already hearing that they are putting out that mast crops are good and that they expect a drop again. Even with the crazy liberal limits here there are still issues with poachers. SwampDawg
set some booby traps, or set out there with a video camera, we had a problem in AL with some poachers...nothing that a few rounds fired into the air when they were close by didnt fix
slugshooter
So what you are saying is that they are trespassing on your land. I am not quite sure how they could get out of that with DNR or the authorities, but since it sounds like a small town that you live in, could it be that some of these "outlaws" are authority figures themselves. I don't like to make the insinuation, but there has to be some reason they get away with what they are doing. All I know is, it wouldn't take me very long to feel threatened, if you catch my drift, but then you have the added pressure of having put a target on your back from the other members of the group. fly
If the DNR will not do anything, I'd be taking matters into my own hands. Nothing Illegal, but there's nothing wrong with placing some tire flattening devices out. Just get the landowners permission. You may also want to check with the landowner about no tresspassing signs.
Solocam
Well its like this its not my land. Its land that I have perission to hunt on. 8 guys plus myself have had rights to hunt this farm for years. The land owner says no one else has rights. the land is posted and we are the only ones who can hunt it. A few years ago we had our stands stolen.....we don't know for sure who took them but some of the guys said they had ideas. Then we would just ask the owner if he let anyone else hunt and he'd tell us no and to tell who ever it was to beat it. But see, this is the thing they would only go there when we weren't there. So who ya going to tell to get off the land. But we all have seen them leave there and had been told they were there by poeple that live near by, we'd find gut piles. Last year we called DNR they came asked them if they had rights to be there or not and they said they had notes.....I told DNR that they maybe fake but was told o'well they are not into finding out that as long as they had notes they were happy. The farmer says he didn't give anyone a note to hunt but us......but what to do since DNR dosen't care!!!! And the season hasn't even started and now we have had some of our cams stolen!!! As far as being threatened or feeling like a target on my back....not even close. I don't play that game!!! That is weak. Only weak people stoop to that low. When it dose I'll face it head on standin on my two feet.

GWSmith
Solocam, I started doing something a few years ago for the landowner who's property I hunt. Each year I make up permission slips that are name and numbered using card stock paper. Each year everyone must pickup a new permission slip from the caretaker. They are numbered and theres a registry book that the caretaker of the property has in his possesion. As someone gets a permission slip thier name is placed on the slip and in the book. Each permission slip has the caretakers phone # and name on it. If or when the DNR around here stops someone the slip asks the DNR official to call the caretakers number for verification of permission to hunt the property. Whats not on the slip, but only in the registry book, is the persons name-address-drivers license number-vehicle license plate number-make/model of the vehicle. The permission slip must be displayed in the windshield of the vehicle while on the property at all times. Every vehicle must have a separate permission slip in the windshield. The caretaker can then stop by any vehicle he sees on the property and check the number against the registry book.

Guest sniperhunter22
Don't get the local yokel DNR agents involved go right to the state! If that doesn’t work sue them for trespassing and get every penny you can out of them, IMO;)

Guest smoke.14
I had this same problem on my land here in TN. One day in town, I was talking to one of the TWRA agents and was expressing this same displeasure. There were guys coming onto my property with 4 wheelers and destroying my property. I had spent good money on dozer work to get it where I had roads thru the property as well as some food plots and they were coming in ripping the ground apart and killing the deer. I mentioned to the agent that I was going to lay down spike strips with 16 penny nails to give some flat tires a warning and he told me that if someone ran over the spikes and drove their 4 wheeler into a tree or off a bluff and hurt themselves, then they could sue me.... WHAT THE HECK???? Tell me the law doesnt favor the criminal...... If I just so happen be in my treestand and see a 4 wheeler coming down MY road in the woods which are well posted, I just may assume the 4 legged motor animal is a 14 point buck and just sling a slug in its chest.... There has to be a stopping point to this....

Guest lugnuts
I got this deal and its only for me I guess, Lets say this land that you talk about was mine and I did happen to see a vehicle or something that was not suppose to be there, if I was to shoot the window out what would the person do? if they know they wasn't suppose to be there anyway then they probably would not call the cops. ( I can hear it now, yes deputy I was parked somewhere that I had no permission to be and trespassing while hunting on someone elses land, and someone shot my window out I demand results) Any way there is no proof that you did anything to them I mean 300 yard shot into a truck window, I think most anyone could make that. I know someone who put a shot into a radiator of a truck because the people would not stay out of his hunting area that worked, never had any more trouble. It is sad that it has to come to this but I respect others land by not hunting it without permission and I just expect the same respect from others. I would never promote the use of violence towards anyone if there were other ways of fixing the problem, but sometimes it may take a $300 or $400 dollar vehicle repair bill to fix the problem that you are having.
