JDAWG
Regarding scent control? I know people who shave EVERY part of their body during hunting season. I'm actually considering trying it. Does anyone here do this? What are some of the CRAZY things you do?
OUTSIDER
I just use common sense...I do not rely on gimmicks anymore like scent lok or scent blocker. I see equal amounts of game with or without it, so instead of dropping 400 or so into a new scent suit, i bought a top of the line gore-tex suit this year. I rely on the wind, height of my stand, and just using common sense...no coffee in the mornings, take a scent free shower, use baking soda based non-scented deodorant, non scent wash on myself and clothes, and since i hunt around cattle most of the time...i walk through as many cow pies as i possibly can. I use some cover scents, apple, acorn, earth, stuff like that. I just think there is another way than spending hundreds on the "scent" suits. GWSmith
I dont. I used to go as far as shaving, only my head, back when I still had enough hair to worry about it...now I'm more concerned about covering up that blinding glare from the chrome dome:D I used to use scent elimination products like HS Fresh Earth spray but rarely now unless my path to a standsite is dry. Most of the time I'm walking through enough mud I dont worry about it anymore. I keep my hunting boots outside of the house and only put them on after I get out of the truck headed towards my treestand. I used to and still do wash my hunting clothes in baking soda. Guest bergster55
Shaving your entire body… that sounds a bit extreme. Like outsider said I just use common sense; scent free wash at the beginning of the season for all of my hunting cloths, and using scent free deodorant and using scent free shampoos in the shower once the season starts has always worked for me. Oh yeah, I also don’t bother buying all the expensive Scent Lock or Scent Blocker clothing, I just keep my cloths in an air tight bin that I generally only open when I get to the woods Season opens in my neck of the woods tomorrow but the weather is not looking to promising for southern Wisconsin, that sucks.
