Jeramie
Its pretty much confirmed (or at least in the works) that the company I work for is being bought out by Honeywell. I would have never guessed Honeywell would have bought us out because we are an Oil Based Company (Flares, burners, TO's, parts, etc.). Regardless, its happening. Everyone is turned upside down about the "Merger." Does anyone know anything about Honeywell? Ever worked for them or know anyone that does? KirkV
Jeramie Honeywell is a very large apparently stable company that has been around the automation industry forever. I have used many of their products over the years in both burner controls as well as instrumentation. I do not know their wage structure but as far as stable, I would not think you would have to worry. Kirk
JJL
I heard from a very unreliable source that once O'Bama is elected, Honeywell is changing their name to Homeywell............................fwiw.
MCH
Jeramie, one of my co-workers at the bank used to work at Honeywell in Tulsa. She worked there almost 20 years. But she fell in love with a local boy and now she's down here. I'll ask her what type of company it is.
archerjg
I worked for them. They are very stable the benefits are pretty good. The salary at least where I am at is competitive, but on the lower end. For the most part a good company, but the raises were slow and very little when I worked for them. However they do like to promote within and promotions come quickly. I was promoted 3 times in almost 3 years there. I moved on to a better job with 50% more pay, but I liked the atmosphere at Honeywell. I will try to answer any questions that I can. Dawg
The company that I work for buys a lot of A/C and heating related products from Honeywell. They are one of our biggest Vendors, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Jeramie
I think the biggest concern everyone seems to have is new management. We buy a lot of electronics from them. I know they are in a lot of markets, it just didnt seem to fit our companies profile. Anyway, everyone seems to be more worried about benifits, retirement, pay, pay increases, micro management, etc. All and all, is it a company that has their fingers in everything? Do the Micro manage? How are shop hands treated (I get that question daily)? I figure the company is like any other to work for. However, they are having to pony up some money for the company I work for. We are doing over 100 million in sales every year. I figure Honeywell will come in and immediately revamp so profits will increase.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
If by micro manage I can tell you that they will probably bring more structure to the business. Sometimes the benefits are better on one end and worse on the other ... like your 401 might be better but your insurance might cost you a bit more stuff like that. I can tell you that Honeywell is a HUGE company and for them to buy your business is probably going to end up being a better thing over all for you guys. The structure and organization into there way of doing things is the hardest thing ppl will have to deal with ... if they can deal with change ... they will be ok if not well Honeywell will find someone that can. OJR
A friend of mine retired from Honeywell after 34 years. He got a camera on his retirement! He had to pay for his medical insurance after he retired for both him and his wife! It was costing him about $1,400.00 per month. He has hit 65, so now his comapny insurance is secondary to Medicare. The premium has dropped some, but he is still paying a lot for his wife. I think this is happening a lot with several different companies now. Medical insurance is a major problem! Your pensions had better be good ones in order to pay for it when you retire!
MCH
I only got to talk to her for a couple of minutes but it sounds like Honeywell is a great company to work for. About 3 years ago, her single coverage insurance was free while family insurance was $78 a month. Beats the pants off of ours. Heck, my single coverage costs more than that. cinch314
As for Honeywell's surveillance equipment, we (My company) will no longer deal with Honeywell because the support sucks and the cameras and equipment dont last. Just my two cents worth.

Hoosierbuck
We have friends that still work at Honeywell that bought out Allied Signal light brakes and aircraft landing systems, which was Bendix Brakes before that, all here in South Bend. My wife worked there when it was Allied. Honeywell is pretty good, all things considered. Our one friend is an engineering tech. and he stayed put and is doing well for his family, far as I can tell. Another guy (that helped get me into archery) is a designer, and he has been there forever, too. Still going strong, and that buyout was probably 10 years ago. Good luck, buddy. I think you'll be fine. HB
Leo
Honeywell has a special materials division. They are into plastics (come from oil). Their most famous plastic product is Spectra fiber. I'm sure most of the fisherman here will recognize what that is.
