Tominator
saw a few small bucks chasing does lastnight(11-4).....bigger bucks did not chase but feed and kept tabs on does. Does wanted nothing to do with bucks. Last night was 11/3 goof ball. My oldest daughter said the last deer was a buck, but I could not tell for sure. You're getting old daddy. Stinger-Hunter
I have used those charts myself. Here is one issue with them: Hunting the rut doesn't always mean bucks will be on the move. If they are waiting for a doe to breed her, they will lay down next to her and just wait. This often takes 12-24 hours. This means that those bucks aren't running around. I agree that those dates are accurate, but I've noticed less movement during the rut and more movement a week or two before the rut - the chasing phase. Report your experiences with that. I know I've hunting in MN several times during those predictions and haven't seen squat. The trick is to be out there as much as possible and be in an area with lots of deer. wtnhunt
You're getting old daddy. lol. Daddy was keeping it between the lines going over the bridges in the bottom, but still was first to spot the deer off in the cut corn field.:D
backwoods07
Wow Todd, feeling ambitious lately?? That's pretty neat to see it all laid out on paper. Off work for 11 days during the peak of the rut?? I expect to see a Missouri monster down We haven't seen a buck not doggin a doe in the past 10 days. Not to mention two 160"+ deer on a couple occasions :)
Tominator
Last couple of days I've seen some decent bucks standing guard over a couple does. Saw one in my neighbor's field tonight. Had a past student call me tonight relating a chase scene. I guess he was 35 yards from a 140-145 class 10 pt, but couldn't get a shot through the branches. wtnhunt
Watched a 2.5 year old buck and a 1.5 year old buck chasing does around my field last night. Looks like the prediction may be right on.
buckbuster11
The chasing seems to be way down in my area. I spent most of the daylight hours friday and saturday in the woods with pretty much nothing going on. Seeing alot of does out in the fields at night with no bucks around too. Very odd for this time of year. Yesterday there was a big buck in the woods across the road from house tending a doe. When I was loading my truck up at 530 am I heard him chasing her around and grunting like a pig. When I came back from my stand at 1030 I was standing on the front porch and I started hearing grunting again. I spotted him laying right in the wide open beside this doe just grunting and grunting. Anyway, the point is I think the actual breeding phase is really underway right now.
toddyboman
This weekend (11-8 and 11-9) I rattled in several bucks.....Witness one big buck chasing a doe. Most bucks I saw where cruising looking for does. Several does I saw still had their young ones with them.
wtnhunt
Chasing and following going on here all weekend Todd. I got out Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and all I saw were younger bucks chasing or following does, but looks like some does are starting to come in. The wife saw bucks and does everytime she went out, she killed a decent body sized buck yesterday afternoon, the buck was guarding a doe and the doe hung around the dead buck laying in the field. Guess she may have been lovesick.

Flintlock1776
I went out this morning behind my house. At 5am I hit the spinner plate to make sure some corn was down. I heard a deer in the darkness but just went up in the ladder after the corn dropped. Up I go, I turn around to sit down and there is a doe eating the corn! I can see a bit of her thru my binos and just sat and she paid no mind to me! About 6am I heard another noise it was a big doe coming from my right and heading to the feeder. She kept looking at me but I held pretty still. They wandered off about 6:30am. At 7am I had to get down and ready for work. I took the SD cards out of the Trail Cams and found out it was raccoons wiping out the feeder at night. New plan now is to fill the feeder enough in the am and to set the feeder off at 5, 6 and 7am. That will be enough to hold the does in as they seem fairly settled in and don't seem to notice me and I have them on a schedule it appears. I hope the does will attract the bucks. That's the plan. So, here I am getting in my car at 8am for the drive to work and heading out of the woods and along my driveway a big body buck was between my car and the stand in the woods. Too bad he was a spike. He paid no notice to me in the car as I turned it around and basically drove down the driveway with him walking along side of me! No sign on the trail cams where those big boys went. Rain expected now through Saturday morning. That may kill the rut. Anyone wants to opine on rain and the rut??? This is what I am hoping comes back to my property:
Tominator
Very strange here. Took the day off Monday, got skunked in the morning, (along with just about everyone we talked to), then saw some decent trail following in the evening, but just little guys. Saw 1 doe and fawn at last light too, and as far as I know, nothing was following them. I have yet to see a fresh roadkill buck, which is extremely unusual for my area. I'm seeing fresh doe roadkill though. I picked up my daughter from practice tonight, primetime, nearly 20 miles of back roads, not one deer tonight. Oh well, glad I have my buck tagged already. I have on buck already (6ptr.) We are allowed a total of 6 if I bought permits for each season segment. If I get one more that will be fine. I'd like to get that nice 120 class I have on my land during the rut. I hope the rain won't cool the buck's fervor off any!
