cory46928
Hey Everyone, I would like to get some ideas on what I can do to attract more and hold deer on my property. I'm on 20 acres, the 3 acre swamp between me and the neighboring field that has dried up the past two summers. West side is met by a 25 acre woods, not sure if there is any hardwood trees. There are two smaller woods across the road 1/2 mile, one about 10 acres, the other about 5. Big irrigation ditches, 10' deep by 12' wide, that runs through the farm fields around here giving the deer ways of travel with out ever being seen. The last patch of spotty woods is to the south about 1 mile away and I would say its about a 10 acre woods. All the woods I listed are in the middle of fields. Preaty sure I'm just a pass through point. The one thing I can say that would make a difrence is a good water supply, which I would like to do in a few years. I have provided a salt block, mineral supplements, planted fall turnips along with clover/chickery mix in a few small areas, I feed whole corn and deer feed through most of the year. We have corn in the field behind us this year and I think I'm going to buy 1/4 acre to see if this will help later on into the season. The woods to the west and the one to the south are hunted by the same couple of kids, dad owns it, I watch them come in and leave. Other than the occasional stray hunter in the other woods and one guy to the north maybe once a season, there really isn't alot of hunting pressure. What other ideas do ya'll have? Thanks for any ideas. Cory
