ousoonerfan22
I want to plant some clover in a hay meadow that we bale every summer but we need to spray it next spring for weeds and persimmon saplings. So will 24D and Remedy wipe out the clover? dogdoc
yes it will. You can use 2-4DB which will not kill the clover but it is quite a bit more expensive than straight 2-4D Is it for the deer? If so why don't you just broadcast some dwarf essex rape and some wheat in the meadow. You'll be surprised how easy those two seeds will germinate after a good rain. ousoonerfan22
I could throw out some wheat and rape seed right now but I still want to plant some clover for the deer plus it will help the cattle.I guess the weeds need to be killed off before investing in the clover seed. Have you tried the Durana clover seed?

I have a 3 acre clover patch the could really use a dose. Wonder how much spray it'd take??
Tominator
http://www.keystonepestsolutions.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=77 Around 1 to 2 qts./acre. It's good stuff. Close to double the cost of regular 2-4-D though.
Strut10
Dude!!!!! $80/gal??????? That stuff's almost free!!!!! There's a pre-emergent we use on the Christmas tree farm that's over $400/gal. I was pleasantly surprised by the 2-4DB price.
wtnhunt
Looks like a pretty good price there at keystone. If my math is right, that gives you 8-10 sprayings worth of 1 acre plots for $80. Not too bad. Will have to remember that link, afraid I am going to need to spray our clover plots next summer, the drought here seemed to allow for more weeds to establish. Last time I bought 2-4-D for my lawn and gardens it was $25 for 2.5 gallons. This year it jumped to $45 for some reason. Roundup jumped too along with everything else associated with growing stuff. Anyway, it might pay for you to go down to your local co-op and check prices. They all seem to be pretty competitive--at least around here. Tominator
I just clicked on that link to make sure it was updated, and it is. Looks like it is a current price, and I also noticed on the left margin, regular 2-4-D for $21/gallon, so Keystone is right around where my local co-op is on prices.
