Guest Andrea
Who wears something over their face when they hunt? I have seen Waddell and Jordan and countless others hunt in a tree stand without anything on their faces. So does it really matter? I'd love to not have to wear one....... wtnhunt
Think it can matter. Rifle and ml here I do not usually use any type of face mask or headnet Andrea, archery I do. Don't usually get picked off even with deer literally underneath me, however my face is not shiny and I keep a beard through the season. My wife wears a facemask typically through all the seasons. Guest Andrea
On this dvd I just watched the other day ( Monsterbucks XVI) not even Tiffany Lakosky wore one.
Randy
On this dvd I just watched the other day ( Monsterbucks XVI) not even Tiffany Lakosky wore one.I think normally even Tiffany wears a ScentLok face mask. Do this, make hubby dress in all camo except his face and hands and then go out in the woods and look at him from a long distance. You'll be suprised how much a little movement gets magnified with out camo.
wtnhunt
I think normally even Tiffany wears a ScentLok face mask. Yep, think so too. Have watched part of monster bucks XI but have not seen the hunt with Tiffany yet, was it a gun hunt Andrea? If you are gun hunting it is probably not as critical in my opinion, but would be sure your face is not reflective.
Tecumseh
Bowhunting I do but not with a gun.
toddyboman
almost always wear one during bow season.....I like to wear one for a couple reasons other than camouflaging my face.....keeps bugs off my face and a little be extra warmth on those cold hunts. For for gun hunting I do some but not as often
Tominator
I feel naked without mine.
MCH
Never wear one. But if it weren't for my glasses, I probably would. BTW--Seems I can remember several bowhunts where Tiffany didn't have a face mask on.
Guest Andrea
Tiffany wasn't wearing one in MonsterBucks XVI, and she was bow hunting.
Ethan Givan
I always bow hunt with a facemask and sometimes when I gun hunt especially if I am not very high in a tree. One time I was bow hunting without a facemask and a bunch of turkeys come out of the woods and started to walk past me. When they walked into one of my shooting lanes they looked up and picked me out real quick and I didnt move at all. The next afternoon, same stand, but I wore a face mask and killed a turkey with my bow. A mask can make a big difference.
GWSmith
I wear one all the time...Bow season to remain undetected as much as possible and Rifle season because...It's COLD:o Being someone who wears glasses I only have one problem wearing a facemask all the time. It is to make absolutely sure I've cooled down first, after hiking or climbing into the stand, before putting it on or my glasses fog up. dbHunterNY
it's something else to carry, but I usually have one with me. it'll only help. I have glasses so it's a little bit of a pain, but if i want to get in close it helps. i had a deer grazing about five feet away and it didn't see me for a while and i didn't have one on though. i'll say it again, it probably helps. - Dan
RackBlaster
Only in cold weather, as long as your still i don't think a deer can make out what you are , how many times do you get close enough to deer for it to recognize what a human face looks like anyways. A couple of years ago i had a decent 3 1/2 year old 6 pointer walk right under my stand , I intentionally made my face stick out clear as day and hissed at it. It looked right up at me, 20 feet away starred for about 10 seconds an just put his head down and kept walking. I think that in high pressured areas it might be helpful but those deer i think pick out a silhouette up in the tree before a face, but what i always tell people is to do what ever you feel will help your chances for success. (legally that is )
backwoods07
Always wear one just to be cautious. It's really not a big deal putting one on, and if it can save you from getting picked off, why not. Besides, it keeps you just a little bit warmer on those cold mornings. Even though I shot a buck last year from 10 yds without one
Jorden
I wear one no matter if I am bow hunting or gun hunting. I just dont like not having one on and like someone said it also adds some warmth
Ohiobucks
I always have one with me, but it seems like a rarely wear one anymore.....
BearClaw
Always wear one and I wear glasses too! Know what you mean about fogging up! I use a 1/2 mask by Primos and camo the rest of my face. I cut out the nose so I can feel the string and it comes with the mouth already cut out. It helps cut down the fogging! clrj3514
always wear mine. my face is kinda shiny. i have sum facial hair but wat ive got is blonde so it dont camoflauge me
fly
I do to keep bugs off me and when I'm hunting below 20 feet in a tree. When I'm over 20 feet high I've never been busted because of a deer seeing me. I do have a beard though. We have to wear blaze orange during shotgun season so I don't see the need for a face mask. mule659
I never wear one unless I am at ground level...not had a problem as of yet
Turkeygirl
I always wear one bowhunting...and when it comes time for shotgun, it's usually cold enough that I have a fleece facemask on or something.
craig mack
I always wear one. Its tight to my face like the one Bill Jordan wears on some of his hunts. I have a thin one for warmer days and one that is a little bit thicker for colder days. I also wear a base layers head cover.
Ravin R10 man
I almost always wear one, except for the other eve. the deer were under me so fast I hadnt had time to put it on. Crows, Turkey and Waterfowl, its a must.
elkoholic
I prefer to use camo face paint as I feel that a mask hinders my hearing and when bow hunting it messes with my anchor point. As for the hunting shows and videos, I always wondered why if they do use a face mask do they pull it down when getting ready to shoot as that is when the deer is the closest and just the movement to pull it down could alert the deer.
