Face mask???

Who wears something over their face when they hunt? I have seen Waddell and Jordan and countless others hunt in a tree stand without anything on their faces. So does it really matter? :confused:I'd love to not have to wear one.......

Think it can matter. Rifle and ml here I do not usually use any type of face mask or headnet Andrea, archery I do. Don't usually get picked off even with deer literally underneath me, however my face is not shiny and I keep a beard through the season. My wife wears a facemask typically through all the seasons.

On this dvd I just watched the other day ( Monsterbucks XVI) not even Tiffany Lakosky wore one.
I think normally even Tiffany wears a ScentLok face mask. Do this, make hubby dress in all camo except his face and hands and then go out in the woods and look at him from a long distance. You'll be suprised how much a little movement gets magnified with out camo. ;)

I always bow hunt with a facemask and sometimes when I gun hunt especially if I am not very high in a tree. One time I was bow hunting without a facemask and a bunch of turkeys come out of the woods and started to walk past me. When they walked into one of my shooting lanes they looked up and picked me out real quick and I didnt move at all. The next afternoon, same stand, but I wore a face mask and killed a turkey with my bow. A mask can make a big difference.

I wear one all the time...Bow season to remain undetected as much as possible and Rifle season because...It's COLD:o

Being someone who wears glasses I only have one problem wearing a facemask all the time. It is to make absolutely sure I've cooled down first, after hiking or climbing into the stand, before putting it on or my glasses fog up.;)

Only in cold weather, as long as your still i don't think a deer can make out what you are , how many times do you get close enough to deer for it to recognize what a human face looks like anyways. A couple of years ago i had a decent 3 1/2 year old 6 pointer walk right under my stand , I intentionally made my face stick out clear as day and hissed at it. It looked right up at me, 20 feet away starred for about 10 seconds an just put his head down and kept walking. I think that in high pressured areas it might be helpful but those deer i think pick out a silhouette up in the tree before a face, but what i always tell people is to do what ever you feel will help your chances for success. (legally that is :))

I prefer to use camo face paint as I feel that a mask hinders my hearing and when bow hunting it messes with my anchor point. As for the hunting shows and videos, I always wondered why if they do use a face mask do they pull it down when getting ready to shoot as that is when the deer is the closest and just the movement to pull it down could alert the deer.
