Logging

Opening day was this morning. How great it feels to be back in the woods! However, my serene experience was quickly interrupted by the sounds of a logging crew on the north side of our property. Do you think that this would severely disrupt deer movement? I would think that most deer would be use to the sights and sounds of vehicles and equipment. I didn't see squat this morning! Of course experiencing September in Florida doesn't help I'm sure. 72 degrees when I climbed in my stand at 6:15 this morning. Maybe it's just too darn hot. Anyway, what do you think?

Logging will pull deer to the site...it may take a while for them to get accustom to the noise and sounds...when we shut down here the deer come running..alot of times we have them 30 yards eating tops/ or leaves while we are running the equipment. 72 is warm for deer to be up and moving. at least up this far north..it was that temp here last eve. and I had my worst hunt this fall..only 6 deer...been having 10 to 15..

One problem you may be having is that the deer have already pulled over to where they are cutting??..Id go scout the other side out.

Martins right, the sound of chain saws is like a dinner bell up in the U.P.

Florida is different....Arrowed my first Deer there in Richloam/Baird WMA with the temp near the 90's. The temp was actually 91 when I started up the truck, just after 9:15am, with the deer in the back of it.

The only difference is that they start to hold tighter to creekbeds, cypress bogs, and the thick cover in swamps the hotter it gets.

I can see where logging may have curtailed thier movement temporarily from the noise but they got used to that fast enough. They were probably there eating the tops before the crew left the area.
