muggs
A lot of history in that place. That should have done everything to maintain it IMO.

Adjam5
I worked there for 9 years as a electrician for the various networks. They had to take down the old stadium, it was held together with duct tape. Well, not that bad really, but the stadium was in bad condition for some time. Remember when a steel beam fell right after the home opener in 97? Well thats when they finally realized they needed a new stadium and they made the decision to put minimum amounts of $ into the place. After the game when the cleaners would hose down the stands...there would be leaks everywhere in the underside of the building. The concrete had cracks all over. Especially the new upper deck they had put on during the renovation of 1974-75. I have great memories and pics from working there and have met some great ball players too. I used to talk hunting with Chad Curtis, Mike Stanton, Wade Boggs and when Clemens wasn't cranky...him too. They knew me as the camo hat electrician:D Here is a pic I took when I was supposed to be working:rolleyes: at the 2000 Met Yankee world series. Being a fan I got lost every now and then:p Yup, thats 3B coach Willie Randolph in the background and Joe Torre and Bobby V are being interviewed by Kieth Olberman( ESPN) whose mother got hit in the head from a ball that Chuck Knoblauch threw in the stands... Ohhh the memories.

clrj3514
Getting rid of The House That Ruth Built is insane. This may not be nice to say but I hope this comes back to haunt Steinbrener.
Flintlock1776
Looks like the Yanks and Mets are getting embarrassed, not of their gameplay but of the empty seats on national TV. They have resisted the first idea to lower ticket prices in a recession. I mean, what is so tough about shelling out $2,600 for one ticket for one game? Adjam5
It would also be a good time for the players to concede to pay reductions and do their share as rich entertainers to help out the working stiff.
