Counting down NY!

For some of us anyway....4 weeks from yesterday (Saturday) will the 08 archery season opens! I don't think I can wait any longer, lol.

I'm going to try to hold out for a nice buck this year, like something bigger than a 4 or 5 point, unless it happens to be the huge forkhorn I saw the other night or it's some really funky rack.;) I'd like to avoid shooting any button bucks also...though we aim to fill the freezer first, and the little ones are the best eating.

I've been entertaining myself with watching hunting on TV and going up behind the house to watch the deercome out at night...besides homework also, lol.

Any of you guys have any goals for the upcoming season?

Man, am I getting antsy!!! Got some pretty good stand sets hung, the new Elite GT500 is shooting great and my slicktricks are dialed in...:D!

Looks like it should be a great season. Lots of nice bucks around the house/hunting area this year. Here's a few cam pics of several of the bucks that are on the hitlist. Honestly, I've been watching these guys grow since June and would love to see them all get another year or two on 'em...

Nice 8, decent 10...

Here's "the freak"... the deer thats at the top of my list this season. I've been watching "it" for two years now and am 99% sure that its an antlered doe. Saw it the other night still fully in velvet. Last year it was in velvet at least until the middle of October (last time I saw it). Hopefully, I'll be able to find out for sure...

My goals for the season, obviously are to tag a respectible buck, put a couple of fat does in the freezer and arrow a fall turkey...

Hmmm...goals this season...

I'd like to video my son Joe, arrowing a buck and maybe use the recurve to stick one this year. That is of course AFTER I stick one with my Mathews:D . I love non typical bucks. My goal is 3 1/2year old and better, but if something comes by with crazy non typical horns...through the lungs the arrow goes.

Good Luck to my fellow NYer's getting out for the Northern zone opener!

I hate waiting, lol. Tomorrow on my way to clinical, stopping by to pick up a permit to hunt the college property..Houghton that is, not Alfred State. I hunted there once last year, would like to hunt it more. Quite a few deer, they do deer management also...can only shoot mature does and bucks with at least 3 points on one side. I'd like to hunt this ridge that is college property and overlooks a corn field. Heavy trails in there, think it'd be a great spot to catch them coming in from feeding.

I stopped scouting for a little bit, because I've been busy with other things and it's driving me crazy. This weekend if I don't have anything going on I'm making a drive to my hunting area to check things out and shoot my bow. When I watch hunting shows now all I can think about is how I should be out there. I can't even enjoy them as much. That's probably why I'm still typing this message instead of in bed when I have work in the morning. lol
