Randy
1. Black and silver bucktail. 2. Black and orange bucktail. 3. Would be a bucktail too but, we'll go with a Hellhound in perch color. 4. Super top raider anything dark colored. 5. Bull dawg, in black with an orange tail. I could go on and on but, make sure you have a handful of different colors of bucktails and any color that has a distinct color difference is worth throwing. You want them to see a profile so, if a bait has two different colors in it, it'll show up better. Remember, Muskies are like whitetails!! Fish/hunt the edges and you'll be alright. If you see one during the day go back at last light if you can or wait for some kind of a change of light. Maybe a cloud or if your fishing a shoreline, it could be a shade created by the sun moving behind the tree. This time of year they can show up anywhere, I'd start by hitting midlake humps and rockpiles. You may also want a couple different crankbaits such as Ernies and Jakes. Make contact with the bottom or the weeds and hang on. Muskies will most ofter hit after you make contact with the structure. Keep your hooks "sticky" sharp! Sharp hooks catch fish, dull ones make your countless hours casting a waste of energy when you miss one that could have been in the boat. Good Luck and if you have anymore questions, feel free you shoot me a pm and I'll get back to you as soon as I can...
OUTSIDER
6 or 9 Inch Jake in perch Mepps Muskie Killer, white with red feather, silver blade Amma Bama In Fire Tiger Big long nasty Rapala Bulldog in just about any color I fish rivers only (mostly because there are limited lakes that hold muskie where i live) and small streams. I have recently started making my own flurocarbon leaders with 60 pound and metal crimping sleeves. I will start making my own muskie lures once i graduate from college this year.
