HOYTnMUZZYboy
Do you know exactly where at on the body you shot the deer? What was his reaction and how long did you give him b4 you took up the blood trail? Did you recover your arrow, if so what did the blood look and smell like? Give us on the info you can so we can try and help you out...

stcif
I think you should see if there are any deer search programs in your area. They usually use a breed of dachshunds to help track the deer. In central NY where I live I know you can get someone to help you out. They are volunteers and accept donations. Try it out if you haven't. I would if I were you. Make sure it is legal to do this where you hunt. Good luck. Don't give up.
plannerman
Feel your pain. Lost a doe Saturday night under similar conditions. Hit a bit too high and too far toward the shoulder. Tracked for 250 yards, crossed a river, tracked another 100 and blood trail stopped. Jumped a dry river at least 10-feet wide ... assumimg it could have been a true "flesh wound" without hitting anything too vital. Certainly didn't look like lung blood anywhere. Guess it's going to happen as long as we hunt...doesn't make it any easier to take though...Don't let it rattle your confidence.
TexasDeerHunter
Sorry, I know the the feeling . My first buck with a bow was a 15 yard pass thru right behind the shoulder. Found the buck 6 days later about 600 yards away. The angle I shot him took out only one lung and we apparently pushed him to hard. He made a big circle and was in a direction we never looked at first. Good luck finding him.
Straight Shooter
Bowhunting is one of the most humbling sports. You can have the highest of highes and the lowest of lows, don't beat your self up to much I was there with you last week by hitting a big 10 high in the shoulder and getting nothing but meat. I did see him the next day making scrapes, though.
