Jeramie
I found out that I cant hunt prarie dog with a .243 during my antelope hunt. Special regs due to the special season. Now I need a .17hmr no later than next week. However all of the ones im finding around here are the stainless barrel, thumb hole stocks, translation = $300+ without glass or sighting system. Gunbroker has some good deals but by the time you talk payment, win the auction, ship the gun, etc... Im out of time. I leave on October 3rd so I need it no later than next week so I can shoot 50+ rounds out of it and "Learn" the gun. Suggestions anyone? wtnhunt
Was going to suggest checking with wal mart Jeramie, our local store has a few different .17's that they stock, both bolt and semi auto. Went to the wal mart special order page online, and they do not show any semi auto .17's. They do have some listed in bolt action savage rifles but do not list prices. Might also consider checking the big name chain stores in your area, seems like Dick's sporting goods or maybe Gander Mountain had an ad out here just last week with a .17 listed pretty reasonably priced. Jeramie
There is only one local walmart around here that carries guns. They have one but its SS with a thumbhole adn getting up there in price. We dont have any large chains like Dick's or Gander mountain. The only chain we have is BP and they are HIGH on guns unless they are running a special, they arent right now. Other than that its local shops. I guess everyone around here is hanging on to their rifles. I havent found a moderately priced one yet.

wtnhunt
Too bad you don't have agander store bud. Just looked up the current sale ad http://gandermountain.shoplocal.com/gandermountain/default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&storeid=2489523&rapid=586998&pagenumber=3&listingid=-2091069985&ref=%2fgandermountain%2fdefault.aspx%3faction%3dbrowsepagespread%26storeid%3d2489523%26rapid%3d586998%26pagenumber%3d2, looks like a pretty good deal. We are pretty lucky with our wal mart, they still keep a good selection of guns.

Jeramie
Found one! A guy at work emailed me right before it was time to leave. He had a new, in the box Marlin. He bought it and had never done anything with it. I picked it up for $200! Literally, still in the box! Wood grain, BB, decent gun! Thanks for the hustle gang.
