OUTDOORLIFE3
Hey guys, I just bought a Patternchoke tube for my SX3 and I wanted to know if I can use any type of steel shot for waterfowl using this tube. Also can I use the black cloud using this choke?
Dakota
I would asume so. We sell a lot of pattern masters at Sportsman's and you can shoot any form of waterfowl steel through it. The SX3 is an awesome gun and you will definitely have fun with that! Good luck! Dakota
longhorn57
You can use any type of steel with that choke but do not use it with black cloud shells because of he flight control wad. With the black cloud you want to use a choke that doesn't strip or slow down the wad like the pattern master does.
Leo
Hey guys, I just bought a Patternchoke tube for my SX3 and I wanted to know if I can use any type of steel shot for waterfowl using this tube. Also can I use the black cloud using this choke? You ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT use Black Cloud ammo in a Pattern Master choke unless it is the Pattern Master Black Cloud choke. http://patternmaster.com/index.php?target=news&news_id=11#11 As far as using steel I wouldn't even try it on that choke unless it was labeled "modified" or larger. longhorn57
It is hard to say what choke is going to pattern best out of your gun since no 2 shoot alike, if your main load is going to be black cloud shell there is a choke made for black cloud shells. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0060547229310a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=black+cloud&Ntk=Products&sort=all&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-
Leo
The Black Cloud stuff shoots fine through a standard invector plus modified choke. Just be sure to seat it tightly with a choke wrench. Patternmaster does make chokes for standard steel. Go to their website and see if the one you got is approved for steel. Indian Creek also makes a waterfowl choke for standard steel. Their turkey chokes have an outstanding reputation. Gobbler Guns makes chokes for your gun as well. Call them and they will specifically recommend a choke for your gun and shell combination.

I shoot the Black cloud and the choke I use is a Comp-n-Choke Light modified ... anything in that range will work great for you ... if you shoot the black cloud you dont need a wad constricting choke when the ammo does it for you ... All I know is that I wont shoot anything else out of my Benelli and I absolutely love that choke. If you can't find the Comp n chke let me know I can probaly round one up for you ...
