outdoorsmen1
Thought this would be a good question for you guys..on really winds days, wouldnt it be best to hunt in the bottoms, and in fields? thats just what i heard, and it made sense, but i was just wondering what you guys have had success with on windy days? like 30+ MPH winds..? Thanks!
Rhino
Generally here at home in MS deer movement is poor at best on windy days like that. Put the wind at 15+mph and deer movement really drops off here. We simply don't get much wind like that and when we do, they just don't like it. Now hunting in the midwest I've had some great hunts on windy days. The wind blows more often there than not so they're used to it. I don't spend much time in fields though but generally on windy days like you described, when I'm on my own making "do it yourself" type hunts I prefer to hunt low in bottoms. That is provided the wind down low doesn't swirl around due to the winds going across the high ground.
