AJ
Re: savage 110 Well, going by your post, a few flags have been raised. If the gun is true 110 is it a long action that has been rebarreled? Is it a 110 short action? They stopped making them about 11 years ago. Savage never put the Timney trigger on the gun, so it is obviously not original. Is the barrel original Savage? Is it a model 10 short action? How many rounds have been through the gun? I am not crazy about the plastic stock, unless it is a good quality aftermarket stock. I would say $400 is a bit high for that gun. Personally, I would not go over $350 unless it was unfired. wtnhunt
Re: savage 110 Bought my wife a model 110 package rifle in .243 from wal mart a few years ago and it was under $400 out the door tax and all. Like AJ I dont like the stock really, but it is a very accurate rifle. Dont think there is any way I would give that kind of money for the gun. You might want to check wal mart in their special order catalog online and you can see what you could buy the gun new for.
ZooBear
Re: savage 110 That price is too high. My friend has one and it shoots well enough but the stock is cheap plastic. When you add the heavy barrel all the weight is way out front. I think he paid $370.00 new.
JimT
Re: savage 110 Too high for sure. We can get Weather Warrier Savages here for another $30.00. Thats what I would get if I was you.
AJ
Re: savage 110 Savage produced the "J-Series" 110 rifle between 1978 & 1985 that has a bolt spread of 4.500. This measurement is between the action screws. This is compared to the Savage short action which has a bolt spread of 4.275" and the Savage long action which has a 5.062" spread. Guest ronin
Re: savage 110 I've had bad luck with a Savage synth. stock. My son shattered one with an ill concieved maneuver.

DannoBoone1
Re: savage 110 I got one in the mid-'90's which sounds identical to the one you're looking at, minus the Timney trigger. It would not group for me, and was traded off. Have since learned there were quite a few things I could have tried, but don't regret the decision. The longer I had a rifle on that plastic stock, the more I hated it. Plastic? NEVER again.

Modillo
Re: savage 110 thats a good old model. i own a savage model 110 in the 7mm rem mag. wood stock and normal 28'' berall and i love it. i like where the safty is at and its a good strong action. easy to clean and very affordable aswell i can hold 4 round total 3 in the mag and 1 in the chamber. go ahead and get it if you want, just one thing when you throw it up, does it feel right? does it feel comfertable to you when you hold it? these are some of the things one must ask about such things and even though it is a good call less recoil and what not if it does not fit you and you buy it, it will kick you around a bit. Modillo
Re: savage 110 personally i do not like the syn stck but i will shoot one if i have too. i like the wooden stock my self. my 110 has a regualr triger none of the fancy pancy trigger baloony. i like mine the way it is. the fist time i got my gun we paid 250.00 for it with scope, sling and catrigde sleeve. i wanted my 1st gun to have iron sights on it but got what i could.i perfer iron sights to begin with. it brings a challenge with it. the first time i took it to the range i put the first two round in the same hole with it. not to mention i was def too boot. i had a supprised look from the first round . later that day shulder pounding and there was this couple shoot the guy was teaching his lady how to shoot a pistol and i was letting my gun cool down at the time and taking a break from the shooting and helpinf my step brother with his 30-30. and he said that she was saying the 9mm she was shooting was really loud. me being a snot nosed 16 year old punk looked over and then moved to my rifle and put 1 round in it and aimed and then fired. i took a peak over my shulder lol and they where looking at me and i could not resist laughing . my step dad was cussing me out for that because i did not warn him i was shooting it. hehehehehehehehe not to mention they left and went to another range away ealrythat day i did the same thing to a bunch of black powder fellows im proud of my self
