preacherman
Hey guys.......I need a little advice. My wife is wanting to hunt with me this year, so I am in the market for her a rifle. I have looked at a few today and have narrowed it down to three that I am thinking about. I was wondering, if you were me, what would you do and which one would you go with. Or any other suggestions I would be glad to entertain. Browning x-bolt 7mm-08 Tika T3 7mm-08 New England Firearms 44mag (I could use this during muzzleloader season here in MS) The gun shop is owned and operated by a very respected lady in town that knows her stuff. She suggested all three of these guns and now I am trying to decide what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott
tped
Tikka is a great rifle - good quality and known for accuracy and I would also expect slightly cheaper than the Browning. 7-08 would be a great light recoiling caliber for your wife also. That is the way I would go. Buy the 44 for yourself oneday but treat your wife to the Tikka-she will love you more for it in the long run. wtnhunt
Just my opinion Scott, but of those choices I would probably go with the Tikka or the Browning. My next rifle may end up being a Tikka.
mailmanmark
TIKKA all the way.................

You are right. The Tikka is about $200 cheaper than the Browning; just never owned one and don't know anything about it. But I do like the things I am reading here about it. Strut10
I've no experience with the Tikka. The Brownings are no slouches when it comes to accuracy. I would not be afraid of one. You may wanna check out the Weatherby Vanguard line. Cheaper than either of the two you mentioned and terrifically accurate. The Vanguard Compact comes with a shorter stock for women and kids. bluelund79
I will back up the Tikka anyday. I traded my Ruger for the Tikka (both 25.06). I love the detachable mag, adjustable trigger, and fit and finish of the gun. The only downside are the choices for rings are few. Mine came with really nice wood for the price. I would honestly say to bring your wife down there and see which of those choice fit best for her, and have her bring the coat she is going to be wearing hunting...Learned that one with my wife...Good luck in your quest, Eric
preacherman
I wound up going with a "used" (but never been fired Browning A-Bolt 7mm-08. It is a stainless gun with a synthetic stock. The gun was bought by a local man that never fired it, brought it back in and traded it for another gun. The gun was in mint condition. I got it for $600 out the door. It is indeed going to be a keeper.
