My first bow kill!

Well ladies, I finally did it after 7 years of trying! I shot a small racked 6 pointer at 15 yards. It has been a long 7 years of trying to get my setups right. It was my first morning on the stand, got there before light, sat for a few minutes and got down to shake some feed out of the feeder (legal in Ohio) and got busted by a deer 40' way. Needless to say, I thought every deer in a mile radius knew of my location.

Got back up in the stand thinking it would be an hour or two before anything else would come by, but at 7:35 a deer steps out onto the trail about 40 yards from my stand bobbing its head up and down checking out the trail. Slowly, ever so slowing it comes to my feeder facing me. Feeds a little still facing me, I'm doing the slow motion thing of getting my hand on the bow and to me. Then he finally swings his rump around and is broadside, yes! His head is at the feeder and I draw back and let fly. A hit!----not a good hit, oh sh%t! He bolts a few steps and steps back out on the trail and the shot isn't a pass throu. ( arrow still in him) It hit just below the spine and in front of the hind quarters and leaking like crazy. It hit the artery below the spine!!! Whew, this will be a kill, just have to give it an hour!!

Gave it an hour and a half and went to find it. The blood trail was impressive, althou it did go 150 yards.

As soon as I load the pics, I'll post them.

He may be my smallest rack on the wall, but he was the most hard earned!!

Awesome, way to go girl. I know you are proud. I sat out last night for the first time with my bow. I had 2 does and 3 fawns all around me. Had a fawn come about 6 yards from me. Two of the fawns were twins and were running around bucking and kicking. It was so cute to see them play. I plan on getting back out some this week for the afternoon. Can't wait to see pics Deb. A big fat congratulations to you.

Way to go girl! I can't wait to see the photos! Once you get the first deer out of the way, it becomes a little easier. I remember my first deer with archery, I hit it in the femoral artery so it bled like crazy. Sometimes we aim to make a good shot and something happens and the arrow doesn't hit where we want it, but I 'm glad ya found him...he's a trophy big or small!
