Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I am in need of a new blind. I plan on getting one in the next week or two. Just not sure which one to get. Not going with a Double bull thats for sure, to darn expensive and I can get the same results out of something cheaper. I think I have it narrowed down to 2 different ones. Ifr anyone have used either of these, I would like your opinion on them. First one is an Ameristep G-30. Cabelas has them in Realtree Hardwoods HD camo. I like the design, but until now the only ones I have seen were in Ameristeps tangle camo. The other is made by Eastman outdoors. It is a 2007 model I think, carbon venture magnum I think it is called. I might just decide to go with an Ameristep intimidator, but not quite sure yet, I really want on in the readtree HD green or in APG camo, but I think they are only in AP. Here is the Eastman blind (the picture isn't very good, it looks a lot better when you see it up close) Ameristep G-30 in realtree Hardwoods HD
toddyboman
just looking at the 2 pictures.....my first question to you would be do you want BIG windows or LITTLE windows......That appears to be a big difference between the two. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
yeah, thats one of the things I am trying to decide. Just doing a search I found Bass pro has a brickhouse in Realtree hardwoods green HD, and ameriteps website have the new brickhouse 360 at a decent price too. decisions decisions
davetucker
I guess it would be up to you on what you want out of one!!!I agree that the double bull are quit expensive when you can get the same thing for a fraction of the money!! GWSmith
Here's a few things to consider as well: Shop Around!!!!! I've found less expensive prices at other online retailers. Hey...why not...if it's the same item with the same features where you get it from makes the difference in how much money stays in your pocket. Here's just one example of another retailer's ground blind choices: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/search/search.asp?r=MainHeader+KW+Box&a=browse&k=Ground+Blind The most important feature of a ground blind, IMHO, is what are you going to ask it to perform later down the road? Is it going to be just you hunting out of it or are you hoping to add a family member or hunting buddy inside that unchanging floor space? Do you want a "Hub Style" blind or a "Pop-up"? I have been looking around a lot today. Have found a few decent prices on some nice blinds. For the most part, it is just me in the blind. I have a younger cousin who may decide he wants to go out one day, but other than that it will be just me 99% of the time. I definitely want a hub style blind. I currently have an ameristep Doghouse, pop-up. It's still in good condition, but I have had it for about 8-9 years, I think it is time for a change. I plan on giving that one to my dad. I have decided I am in no big hurry to get one. If I can't decide I'll just wait until next year.
ildrhntr
I know you don't want to spend the money on a double bull, but they are worth the money. I have had mine since 2002 and it is still in mint condition. I have used it in wyoming and Montana and have taken deer and turkey out of it here in Illinois. Last fall it was out all fall till the end of season and it was still holding up. Most of the other blinds I have seen I don't think would hold up to the years of abuse like a double bull. For what it's worth.
MichiganHunter
I'm not sure if it's the Ameristep one mine is a little bit different in color, it's close but it has the same windows and i really don't like it. It has been hard to use and small window make it hard for me to shoot threw.....but I am 6' 4" and I have a 31 inch draw length so bow is hard for any blind. BUT it is one of the best ground blinds I've had in a wile it's brushes in well and the black on the inside makes it hard to see you if you are right next to the blind or if you are a long ways away. So I would say to go for the other one if it's going to be a bow blind and if it's gun only the Ameristep is fine.

laserbob
Check Sam's Club They have the Eastman carbon for $178.00. Looks like a good blind, thinking of getting one myself.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
They have the Eastman carbon for $178.00. Looks like a good blind, thinking of getting one myself. yeah thats where I seen the one pictured. It looks way better in person. You guys with your double bulls . Tell ya what, you all pitch in so I can buy one if they are so great. I don't doubt they are nice blinds, but not $400 nice, no blind is worth that. I have had my doghouse for 8 or 9 years, other than a tiny rip I put in it with a broadhead, it is in perfect shape, and I use it A LOT and have seen a ton of deer out of it. So again..I am NOT buying a double bull. I have found a good deal on an Ameristep Intimidator, but the place is out of stock, if they get some in within the next couple weeks, I think I am ordering that one. fly
I'll be in the same boat as you next year when my kids start deer hunting. I'm waiting till my cabela's points add up. No way would I fork out 400 (more like 100-150). I've been looking at the Doghouse TSC. It's bigger than the regular doghouse (no realtree camo though:() Good reviews from Cabela's. The windows on the G30 are too small for me.
Mach1
My brother picked up a Brickhouse off eBay before last season for half price. It had been slightly used and the only problem was a broken pole that Ameristep replaced for nothing when he called them. My wife and I hunted out of it during gun season with no problems. I had a Doghouse blind until it was stolen out of the woods. It was ok for one person.
EKYhunter
This is the Primos Ground Max Predator from Cabelas. $129.99. If I didn't have two DB's I'd own these.

dbHunterNY
I think mine's a GroundMax Eclipse I just bought it this season so we'll see how it works. It was a little over $100. My first impressions are good. I'll try and remember to post more info on here about it when I start using it this season. - Dan
