wtnhunt
Makes me wish I could afford a video camera ,,, I've got few does that are going to catch some arrows this fall .. :D VT doesn't have much to offer far as big racked bucks ,,, :( Camera I am using is a sony handycam mini dv, bought the cam almost 3 years ago and it was a nice consumer grade camera at that time. It was kind of expensive when I bought it, but cheap in comparison to the gl-2's and other high end pro cams. Now cams better than the one I am using can probably be bought for less than $500. Archery hunts are proving so far to be much more challenging to film by myself.

randyoitker1
The first thing that we need to do is put together a pilot show to send to the station. Then if it is accepted , I will go to the sponsors to get money to air it. This will take some time to put together because you have to have footage and go through and edit it. This all takes time . Then you have to have a few shows ready to air . Right now I was checking to see how many people are interested in doing this.
toddyboman
Archery hunts are proving so far to be much more challenging to film by myself. NO JOKE!! I can relate since I hunt by myself 90% of the time . So getting the camera on the deer and at that right and trying to get your bow drawn and make the shot is a very challenging. But it sure is fun:D
IowaDeerHunter
I am sure you could use some of our footage. Have high hopes for this year.
wtnhunt
NO JOKE!! I can relate since I hunt by myself 90% of the time . So getting the camera on the deer and at that right and trying to get your bow drawn and make the shot is a very challenging. But it sure is fun:D Where are you setting your camera up Todd? I have been setting mine up above me, think I need to extend it farther out. The remote for it works ideally when it works, but still reaching and moving the camera without the movement getting picked up by yourself is tough to do. fly
Sounds like a great idea.....I take my camera and camera arm with me to the woods every time.....but often I am video man and the hunter....so its a challenge to say the least to get it all. But if I get something good I will send it your way. Same for me. >Frank
NiteRunner
Sounds Awesome! I would love to see it work out! I don't film my hunts, but it would be neat.

I am headed out the door to my stand. Randy Nope sure haven't Randy. Been seeing does and fawns pretty regular, have not been taking the camera everytime I go though. I did have the camera out with me last night and got skunked.:( Youth hunt is this coming weekend, planning to take the camera with me for it, maybe the deer will cooperate. toddyboman
nope....Have not got anything yet. The morning that would have been best for videoing was the morning the camera got turned in my bag somehow so the battery was dead.
buckee
I wanted to get this idea up top again, because I know many of us love it, and Randy is da man for offering to try his best to make it happen. It's a new year, and who knows...eh I am going to try to get a blacktail hunt on film this fall...I hope.
wtnhunt
I got quite a bit of footage last fall including the kill shot on the youth hunt where my oldest daughter killed her doe, which was without question the highlight of my season. Got some other footage of bucks pushing does too, but all younger bucks. Unfortunately where I had the camera positioned for my daughter to be in the best position for her to shoot from I could not see the viewfinder on my camera, and I did not zoom in on her shot. She passed on several bucks, think we got a little more footage of that on tape than what is in the clip. This clip is edited down in duration/quality quite a bit so it could be uploaded. Was shot with consumer grade sony minidv camera. Would be nice to have an hd capable cam and a nicer mount, but too many other things going on for one to be in our budget anytime in the real near future. .
