Ethan Givan
I have a Hawkins muzzeloader from cabelas, and I was wondering if it is alright to shoot pyrodex powder and sabots like powerbelts in it. I have been shooting blackpowder in it but it is alot more expensive than pyrodex. I want to shoot sabots because a round ball doesnt seem too lethal for deer. Any advice is appreciated. whitetailhunter32210
I had one once and mine wouldn't shoot pyrodex pellets with sabots but it would shoot fine with granulated powder and sabots. I also discovered that if you add 10 grains of granulated and then added the pyrodex pellets it worked fine. Sabots shot fine from mine
Guest wtlfrk
I NEVER use anything but the real stuff in my rifle. Here's a pic of an 8-pointer that I let the air out of with my 40 caliber. 75 yardsopen, iron sights65 gr. Goex FFF40 cal. round ball
wtnhunt
Have shot pyrodex and both great plains bullets and sabots from my old sidelock ml and it did just fine. Think however that you should attempt to find out what the safe max loads are for your gun before using the pyrodex. We were using 85 grains of pyro RS.
