Guys and Gals--I know your generosity has been called on several times but I want to let you know of some hard times one of our moderators has fallen on. Mike Hoffman (aka too_pointer) is one of the original moderators of this forum. When I joined around 6 years ago Mike was one of the most active and helpful moderators on the site. Unfortunately over the past couple of years Mike has had some health problems and is now sufferring some financial problems. I want to share a quote from him that he shared with the other moderators:

I haven't been able to work for 8 years. I have MS and a very bad heart. I have had quadruple bypass, and have another operation Oct. 1st. I'll will lose my house soon, as I'm not able to pay my bills, just send them half, and the interest is horrible. My income is Social Security Disability, and my wife works part time for almost nothing. My father-in-law helps with the food. I'm desperate, and can see no way out, I don't even think bankruptcy can help, I have no where to go. Most of the members, especially mods knows my story, I just don't mention it much. I'm hoping something good will happen soon. I might lose my wife over this.

Please take this for what it is. I'm finally getting down on my knees for help of some kind. Thank you for your kindness to others who need help, I ask God somebody can help me.

Mike Hoffman

I told Mike I would post this in the main forum and let everyone know what he has been going through. Myself and some of the mods thought that we could do a little fundraising for Mike. After letting Mike (too_) know that I was going to do this he returned this post to me:

I'm leaving early tomorrow for surgery, so won't be able to check anything for a few days ( I hope ). You members are the very best, no wonder I have been here for 8 years, nobody is better :) Please, please don't short your family for me !!

Mike

If anyone would like to make a little donation to help Mike out during these tough times or even donate an item that can be "auctioned" off here in the forum with the proceeds going to Mike please let me know through PM or just posting on this thread.

Anyone wanting to donate cash can send funds directly to me and I will forward to Mike. Please make checks out to me and I will send funds to Mike weekly.

If you would like to donate an item for auction just post it here and I will repost in the classifieds with a link from here.

What kinda things are you thinking to auction off, I'm sure I can find some things, plus where would I send some money to? Like I said things around my house get tight this time of year, but i'm willing to do what I can. Please let me know where I can send somethin off to. Hey guys to help keep this organized with the auctions lets post all the auctions in the classifieds ... but do like others here have already done and put the links only in here ... I think this should be pinned at the top for a while ...

Todd I will call you tomorrow I have a feeling with the generous ppl here on these forums that the turnout for this will be pretty good and I think if we just run them in here they will get out of hand and hard to manage ...

Hope the surgery goes well tomorrow and we will be praying for you and your speedy recovery.

Alright, someone needs to set this up for me. I want to auction off a Wisconsin deer hunt. This hunt would be for Nov. 22 through as long as Nov. 30th. The hunt will take place on private land consisting of 120 acres. If you are from the west it may not seem like a lot of land but if you are used to hunting farmland and small woodlots you know what this land is capable of. The hunt will include food and lodging at my place. You are responsible for your license and your transportation here. After that I will take care of everything. The area we will be hunting is open to the use of rifles and I recomend that. If you do not have one, I have one you may use. I will sit in a comfortable heated :D stand with you and with my video cam so we can get your trophy on video. You will be allowed as many doe as you care to shoot and one buck with the minimum being atleast 2 1/2 years of age and hopefully a year or two older. More details upon request. :)

Here's a little taste of what I have to offer. All but the far one to the right are still running around and there's more where they came from...

An out of state license is $160. I forgot to mention, we are in a "Earn a Buck" Deer management unit. You need to shoot a doe before you shoot a buck. If you are from the area, we can go out before opening day during a special 4 day antlerless hunt and do that. Otherwise, in WI we are allowed to "party" hunt which means as long as you are within yelling distance of another hunter you may, with his or her permission, (and you have my permission ;):) ) fill another hunters tag. (Please don't yell in my ear :D )So, if "Old Bad" steps out at the crack of dawn opening morning, I'll tag him for you as I'm already qualified to shoot a buck from last year.

I forgot to add I will pick you up from Milwaukee or Madison airport if you need to fly to get here. I would also suggest if you bid on this hunt, please be here on Friday before opening day early enough that we can go out and watch the deer the night before. That is something I try to do every year to get the heart pumping.

God bless everyone. I just got home from surgery, and it took over 3 hours due to complications. The wire they had to pull out of my heart had alot of Scar tissure on, it was terrible to pullout. It didn't damage the vein to bad, and they were able to put a new one up the same vein. They figured they may have to move the pacemaker to other side of my chest.

I am very swollen and bruised, and have to wear a sling for 4 days, then no lifting my arm for 6 weeks,.I'm worn out bad, so won't spend much time in here tonite, just had to check how things were going, great, and that makes me very happy. :)

I need things positive right now, and this really helps me alot.

Mike
