HOYTnMUZZYboy
I have it to. I get it every year rather i'm hanging stands or just out hunting. I wear long sleeves gloves and everything when i'm in the woods but I seem to get it anyway. Kinda get use to it after awhile. I have it pretty bad on my arms right now. Best thing to do is keep it covered up at night when you go to bed. My girlfriend wont come around me when I have it so its kinda nice to get it once and awhile lol :D jk. Best treatment I have found is just let it run its course.

ChasinTail
I have gotten poison ivy so bad I have been admitted to the hospital twice because of swellingand treated with steriods. I have learned to manage it and limit spreading. I rub a swab of rubbing alcohol to help dry it up. You can always get benedryl too. Hot water is very relieving for the itch. The key is to keep itching to a minimum to prevent spreading. Once it starts spreading, its over!

Tominator
There's all kinds of home "remedies," but the best thing is to go to the doc and get a prednisone shot or course of pills, and a topical ointment called Clobetasol. I have a tube of Clobetasol and as soon as I see the redness starting to develop, I put that stuff on and it knocks it down in a day or two. The key is getting to it before it explodes. Guest madabouthuntin
There is a wild plant called (at least around here) blessed Thistle. It's more like a weed. I have never used it, but my brother told me about it. He had gotten poisen Ivy one year and his mother-in-law had some frozen in her freezer. She gave it to him to use and he said that he has never seen anything work on drying it up like this plant did. Around here it will even grown on the sides of the road. I have been told it has a purple top to it. Other than that I can't give you a description. I hope this will help you out. Good luck if you can't find this plant. Going to the doctor might help, but some wil tell you just to let it run its course and use some of the over the counter junk to help with the itching. The good thing is that you can't spread it any further than what the oil from the plant touched when you first contacted the plant. Anyone that is allergic to this plant or ones like it must remember that they can the rash and the itch from touching the clothing that touched the plant or from the fur of an animal. Anything that the oil is on can be transfered to your skin. If you know you will or may be in contact with it be sure to have on gloves (latex is great) and double up on the long sleeve shirts. This will help you keep the oil from contacting your skin. I know it will help cause you to sweat like a pig, but the sweating is worth not contracting the rash and itch from that plant! At least in my humble opinion. The reason I know this about this plant is that my wife is highly allergic to it. A couple of years ago she had it touch her arms. Her hole body was itching from the reaction to this slight contact. She did not brake out everywhere, just itched everywhere from it. So, now she takes the extra precaution if there is even the slightest chance of it being where she is when working in the yard. Oh yeah... One more thing.... The plant does NOT have to be alive and green for the oil to be present. The oil is what you are allergic to. You can get it from the any part of the plant, alive or dead. If you were burn this plant and be exposed to the smoke, you can infect your lungs with the junk. At least this is what the research I did turned up. Take Care and Be Careful!! Guest madabouthuntin
I did say one thing the wrong way.... You can spread where the rash and itch will be, but only when the oil from the plant is still present. Once you wash the effected area(s) and remove the oil of the plant from your skin, it can't be spread not to any part of your body or to anyone else you contact. Just be sure not to touch your clothing you were wearing with your bare skin until they are washed. Please, if you don't believe me (which my wife didn't at first) do a search and see what you turn up. Just don't believe all the old wives tales that most all of us grew up hearing and believing. Remember the old saying....KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! Steve
BowtechTurkeyHunter
There is a product called Zanfel get it at Walgreens its a paste that takes the oils out of your system and prevents it from itching. ihave had pretty good success with it ... the biggest thing I did was go and see a doctor and got a prescription of Prednazone and that is what actually cured my poison Ivy the ointments just cover up but prednazone actually is a cure. I got pills but you can get a shot and it will relieve you symptoms in about 2 days literatly. Steve
backwoods07
I'm immune to it! I can rub it all over myself and I won't develop any kind of rash whatsoever. But I know that oatmeal bath's help alleviate the itching. I don't believe there is any way to make it go away faster. Possibly prescribed steroids? BuckNrut
A little petrolium jelly on sensitive areas BEFORE going out helps to prevent affliction in the first place.
Guest jlh42581
I too get it REALLLY BAD. In fact i was gonna hang a stand yesterday and i said to my buddy, that looks like poison oak on that tree. I picked another tree. Scratch it open and pour bleach on it. It burns like crazy but it works. Theres also stuff made by Band-Aid - its clear, previously called Rhoulie. Its the best of the best. Zambo
I use a product called Tech-nu. You have to buy it at the drug store. It will stop the ivy from spreading. What broke out will have to run it's coarse but Tech-nu will stop it from getting worse.
HOYTnMUZZYboy
This may sound really gross, but depending how bad you have it, it might work... I did a lil research on it today since I have it bad myself, but they say if you pee on it, its supposed to help.... I think im just gonna let it run its course and do its thing
Guest Primetime/IL
I had poison ivy pretty bad right before the season started from hanging stands, its something I get just about every year except this year was one of the worst. I got into some poison sumac or oak whatever is the stuff that bubbles up all over, I had it all over my right hand, finally it cleared up after about 2+ weeks. Ive got some cream I put on it that dries it out and it helps alot, cant remember the name of it though. Its always nasty stuff to have.. He gets it bad every year and he just started going to a new dr and the good thing is his new dr is a hunter. He prescribed him a cream that worked faster than anything i have ever seen. Surprised he hasn't been on here.
