I found this the other day hiking the hills in search of a monster mule deer, just the one tip out of the ground by a dry spring bed, I talked to a guy who does a bunch of old artifacts ect and he said the minerals and iron in the spring water preserved it and he says by the horn shape and the 13 inch width between the bases of the horns its prob a really old buffalo plate,he says it could be up to 3500 hundred years old but has to do some tests to prove it, he says this buff prob stood 7 ft at the shoulder, he kind of wants me to put it in the mueseum but I am not sure, sure will look good in my livingroom lol!!not even sure if I will get it tested or not, its a awsoem find for me!!

Bro, get it tested. Somewhere, someone can benefit from the info that thing holds..

Wow, that's cool! Great find!!

I agree with nativetexan though, I'd get it tested. ;)

Great find and I think you should get as much info on it as you can!

I'd get it tested, hold on to it for awhile, then probably donate it to a museum if it is indeed that important.

Really cool find Bret, congrats.

What they said! Cool find!!!:cool::cool:

...Yes!....-that is a Pleocstone(however you spell it-) skull plate...-we actually have one right here, in our living room(I think Leo can vouch for it, too...-he probably remembers seeing it here when they were up visiting....)

-the guy Terry got it from up north(it was found here, in Alaska)...-didn't want it...- Terry got it for $50!!

-I will try to post a pic of it here, in a bit...

-that IS as old as you think it is!!- great find!!

...Yes, I agree with everyone above....-it would be neat to have it tested!

-ok...here are the pictures (sorry, I took them real quick, while doing a few other things )...of the one here at the house...

(I couldn't help including a sheep in one of the pictures...:D)

-this gives me an idea to include some investigation into the Pleistocene era this afternoon, with the kids' homeschool...(now that I can spell it correctly-:o)
