98chevy
I hunt 3 straight months So I normally stick about 10 deer a year. This year im thinking of trying new broad heads. Im complelty torn between rage and steal froce searated. So I thought I would buy three of each. And try to shoot both of them and get my opion. My only problem with the rage is reading reviews at cabelas there all saying there terrible on the 2 blade and 3 blade want stay locked. BowtechTurkeyHunter
I would be very surprised if your equipment would let you shoot those two heads effectively If you are are worried about the rages then don't shoot them me personally that's all I will have in my quiver this year. They sure do work in my setup lol
98chevy
If course I will try both before heading out. If they do not shoot the same then I wasted 35 bucks on broad heads.
Tink
I don't think the term " sticking a deer' reflects well on the great sport of bowhunting. Thanks
Turkeygirl
Everyone has their own way of communicating how they shoot deer.... My suggestion is stick with what works...I dunno when your season starts, if you have time and the money to spend of different broadheads, go ahead, but you'll probably be adjusting your sites depending on how each broadhead shoots. 98chevy
My season starts on the 15th. I shoot every day also If Im not completly satisfied with the way Im shooting I dont hunt Its that simple. I skipped a whole season once cuss I broke my spine and couldnt shoot enough or get confortable enough to shoot. It was hard but hunting with a camrea till gun season felt better then hitting a deer in the butt or leg. I have shot the steal force in the past and they flew true as my field points. I heer rage does the same. I obvousily would try both before entering the woods. Im very sorry if I came or come off as a un ethical hunter. I hope that is not how im coming off. In short heres my story. Ive been bowhunting since i was 10. All through highschool I shot what my dad shot cuss he'd normally suprice me with his old arrows trimmed down to my size or new arrows and broad heads. Ive been out of highschool for awhile but on a college budget So i shot what I had left over from highschool. Now that I have money Im ready to try new things cuss I can afford to. So again im sorry if i came or come of as a bad hunter. And the reason i brought up the 10 deer part is I ddint want people thinking I was taking a chance on 1 or 2 deer. We have alot of deer on the farm and mangment calls for us to take alot of deer I enjoy doing it with a bow. I also enjoy seeing what or how diffrent equitment works. This year my dilema is broad heads.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
The 15th isnt that far away to be deciding what broadhead/broadheads to use ... I see absolutely no reason to shoot 2 different heads ... especially one fixed blade and one mechanical head. Shoot what you can afford Muzzy's are inexpensive and are probably the most common head out there plus the replacement blades are cheap for when you ruin one shooting deer or targets. 98chevy
I picked up the striker magnums today and They shoot great shoot about 6" high and 4"s to the left. . So im contumplating if Im gunna try another head or just adjust my sights and practice with just the broad heads.
Guest remington88
the rage broadheads r amazing i busted a doe with one about two weeks ago big entry and exit hole great blood trail the deer when 30 yards and droped and i use the muzzy 3 blad when hunting in a blind both of them work great for me
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
As long as they both hit where they need to, I see no problem with carrying 2 different broadheads. I carry Tekans and Strikers in my quiver. Last year I had Grim Reapers and Strikers.
98chevy
I shot them both and They shoot the same spot. So I adhusted to them and after cutting the fleatching off one arrow and robin hood another I stopped shooting them. Im comfident with each shot. So Im ready. I think some people tend to look to far into bow hunting, or maybe some people just never feal cofident. The way i see it is I hunt with a older fellow that uses a old like 70's-80's model jennings with no sights not string leaches nothing. He uses some nasty looking broad heads. As far as I know hes never lossed a hit deer.
deer_slayer08
Im using the Muzzy MX 3 100gr and they would perfect for my setup. I have used them for two years and I like the way they shot.
Buckeyenut
I don't think the term " sticking a deer' reflects well on the great sport of bowhunting. Thanks Tink, I'm sorry but I have to comment on your comment. This is a hunting forum that is presumably used by hunters to share and gather information. This is no place to wage a "PC" war. Thanks! As far as which broadheads to use: I HIGHLY recommend the Rage 3-blade. In my hunting circle, we have not had any mechanical failures, and they fly very true with virtually no wind planing. They also provide tremendous penetration and hemorrhaging. Good Luck!
Tink
exactly Good Point Sir- Where better than to start improving the image of bowhunters There was a bow club down South in the USA that Was called "Stick em Good Bowhunters' You have no idea how bad that went over with other hunters & land owners in that area who closed off huge section of timber company lands to ALL bowhunters..
