12-point
Is anyone calling grunting rattling or anything yet? I saw a few scrapes bucks and does had both been in but its still early.
Jorden
I've heard of people having success with doe bleats early in the season. Me personally, I've had success with light rattling in the past.
backwoods07
I was out there opening weekend trying to bleat deer in. My hunting partner had a couple fawns come in to bleats (fawns that were orphaned earlier in the weekend), but the bleats were ignored by older deer. hyperflow
I bleat every time on stand, it hasn;t worked for a buck early yet. But i have seen does and fawns come to it. I rather see does and fawns then no deer at all so i bleat plus it gives you somthing to do. Seams to make the time pass a lil faster. Rattling in are corner dosn;t work at anytime, are doe to buck ratio is way out of wack, they say like 10 to 14-1.
rad_112176
I grunt ever time i am in the stand. This time of the year i use a young buck grunt with a little higher pitch to it and usually blow it 3 times pausing each time like a deer would to see if anything would respond to it. Make the grunts short. Probably like you were counting to one thousand one. It seems to work good for me every year and had a 140"+ class buck come straight to me at 12 yrds last night, look around, and then walk back to where it come from. Bad thing was the old wise one was able to stay behind a layed over tree and then walk away using some branches as a guard. Amazing how they can do that. I don't rattle this time of year. You will probably only get some young bucks that are wanting to play. Hope it helps.
Ohiobucks
I saw a small buck last Sunday evening, he was at 50-60 yards walking away from me. I grunted once, he stopped, I grunted again and he came right in. 15 yards quartering away, I passed on the shot. I'd like to get Mr. Big to do the same thing....
