Rem308
I had planned on stopping in on a friend of mine's property after work tonight and checking out 2 new treestands he put up. I wanted to scout around a little, just take it easy in the woods. Instead, I got a phone call from a different friend who had his garage burgularized last night! The crooks pried open his door to his garage, which was double locked w/ a standard knob and a good dead bolt. The sides of the 'jam' were even reinforced so they wouldn't give any, and even with all of this, a crowbar and some time let them in. They had worked and worked and worked until, eventually, they made it in. Once inside, they made away with quite a bit of stuff. I just feel sorry for the guy and I can't help but get furious about the whole subject. When something like this happens it causes you to really have some bad thoughts. So, instead of getting a nice peaceful night out in the woods, I worked with him to get everything secured and try to start moving on. I then came home and worked to help secure everything in my garage for a few hours. Around here, people have been prying up garage doors, knowing that some people don't lock the 'slide locks' on the rails. I just feel sick. Buckslayer
When I was in grade school I remember my parent's house being robbed. They lost a few thousand dollars worth of possessions. It does suck. I remember holding my little sis who was crying as my dad cased the place out upon coming home. They never caught the guy... its important to remember to insure valuables (even if the place is secure). I hope they find the criminal who did that! Jeramie
Crooks.... That makes me so mad. We have been tossing around the idea of a security system for that very reason. People work hard for what they have and then some idiot hardly works and takes it all away.
Orion_70
I can't stand a thief! I hate to hear that happened to your friend. With the economy in the shape it's in, there will be a lot more I'm sure. That's why I bought a big safe, at least keep some stuff out of their hands. I can't stand a Thief!!! Adjam5
Sorry to hear about the burglaries. Hope they catch the lowlifes and put 'em away. The "Castle doctrine" is what all states need. A security system is the way to go when you can't be home all the time. If you live in a isolated area, and no one hears the alarm. At least you know the police are on their way if nobody answers the phone with the password. What I do is leave a little bait money in my sock draw. They always go there 1st. The thief will go for fast cash and be on its way, that equals less damage, less property tossing and less time in your home. That is a BIG plus. Everything of value should go into a bolted down safe. My security system won't stop James Bond, but it will stop the teenager gone bad in your area. Tink
Trail Cams in your own yard if you going away set a trail came up ina tree they will never see it drive ways are good it will snap lic plates & get car IDS. In Texas we are allowed to shoo to kill anyone on your property that might hurt you and you can even shoot guys in the back if they are stealing your stuff. In San Antonio last Summer a drunk in a trailer park started banging on a neighbors screen door demanding he give him some beer or beer money. the old man inside shot the guy trying to get in in the chest with a .45. He killed him and the old man was not charged. The Bible says " A Mans Property is safe when its is guarded by well armed guards.":p Dr Sigmund Freud says A mans love of Weapons has roots from some sort of insecurity. Hmmm?
