Fall whitetail scenes from the Texas Hill Country. These scenes are low fence whitetail near my home and I spend considerable time afield pursuing wildlife photography. I hunt year round with my lens.

Several weeks ago I managed to stalk down on this guy feeding on a field edge. Note his "Uh Oh!" stare before the classic "whitetail" departure.

Caught this guy working the early acorn drop a few weeks ago.

If you don't mind what do you mean by low fence?Ranch or free range?Just seems to me when you say low fence i automaticaly think of pasture fence!!

Davet you are correct, just typical pasture fence allowing these deer unrestricted movement. I mention this since many Game ranches have supplemental feeding programs and opt to high fence the whitetail in. These are basically Texas Hill Country whitetail (Edwards Plateau region) living on the natural browse/forage within their habitat...nothing added to their diets to grow more bone or body mass.

I mention this simply because so many places are now providing supplemental feeding programs, which is awesome for the deer but.....you kind of forget where the genetics are if they didn't have the extra protein kick. These whitetail are examples of baseline Texas whitetail genetics....without any additional habitat improvement (food plots, feeding programs etc.).

Thank you all and I will share more.
