slugshooter
I live in Florida, the citrus capitol of the world. Look at where the oranges in the grocery store come from: Does this mean that South Africa gets Oranges from Florida?!
JJL
Does this mean that South Africa gets Oranges from Florida?! Nope, South Africa gets cocaine from Florida in exchange for oranges. Don't ask me how it works. It's part of Bill Clinton's free trade agreement.
wtnhunt
Used to live in central Florida in an area where there were thousands and thousands of acres of orange and grapefruit groves. Watched it all be replaced with houses and shopping centers. Think people overlook what Jim pointed out too. NAFTA is to blame for a lot of the problems we see today. stevebeilgard
that does not surprise me. did you know mcdonalds uses NO u.s. beef? it all comes from south america, mostly argentina. florida getting oranges from africa is no surprise to me. cheaper prices. and, pay no attention to the slave labor they use, or the tyrannical government. it's all about cheaper prices. or so it seems. Orion_70
I think 90% of the Fl orange crop is juicing oranges, Cali. is mainly the eatin oranges... guess it's still cheaper to import, go figure

GWSmith
Slugshooter, Having lived there from 1971 until 2003 I know that place has not had the first good freeze yet. Alot of the fruit takes on a much sweeter taste after that. Almost every grower who is farming Valencia's for Juice also will wait until after the first good freeze. What I always found wierd about down there...Peaches from Georgia were cheaper in Florida...Oranges from Florida were cheaper in Georgia:confused:
