Guest ArcheryFool
Ok guys, Im still kind of new to the trail cameras. I have a couple of the cheap moultrie cams that do ok. I am looking at getting a cuddeback no flash. I was hoping some of you could tell me about them, you thoughts and experiences. Also if I set the cam to take video, how fast does it fill the sd card, figuring it is a 2G. Will I need any special software to view the video on my computer? Thanks a ton. backwoods07
I used Wildviews and Moultries for the past two years. Just recently, a hunting buddy set up an infrared Cuddeback on our farm. The picture quality is outstanding, as is the trigger speed in both day and night. Can't tell you much about durability, as we've only had the cam for about a month. In my situation, video mode is unnecessary. There are too many variables that may cause false triggers (tons of raccoons, farm equipment, etc). We use a two shot burst mode on all of our cameras. But, an average size 30 second .mpg clip (I believe the default setting for the Cuddeback is 30 seconds, low quality) is around 5 mb. That leaves room for about 400 seperate clips to fill up a 2gb memory card. If you bump the image quality to high you can still probably pull off about 200-250 clips. You won't need any special software as long as you have some sort of media player (windows media, quicktime, etc). The videos are recorded in standard mpeg format. Hope this helps! NY_Bowhunter14
personally i wouldn't use the video feature... while the picture quality is outstanding, the video quailty on the other hand is mediocre at best... i would definiely buy a cuddeback, however, i would not use the video feature... Rhino
I have 3 Cuddeback Expert flash cameras and a Reconyx RC55 IR camera. I have several friends with Cuddeback No Flash cameras and in my honest opinion their IR pictures are terrible. I run some of their cameras in the preseason, download, and email pics to them. The IR flash only covers a very small area and their 1.3mp IR camera takes poor quality pictures at best. The color pictures are fine just like the Expert is. Personally if you want an IR camera I suggest you spend your money on something else besides a No Flash. Just my honest opinion.
