Tanning/Drying a bear hide

How hard is this to do? Would like to give it a try. I got a bear this year and skinned it myself, and figure I should learn how to the tanning myself. I left the feet on it, but saw a hide for sale at the fair that did not have it left on. Should I just cut those off? I am just going to drape it over the pellet stove during the summer, so it will not be a "rug".

Thanks!

I am doing a bear cape now for mounting. Bear are super greasy animals and require special attention. Unless you have expierence in tanning and I mean experience, then I would not attempt it. Even as a skilled tanner and taxidermist it is not hard to screw up a bear cape or hide. Most taxidermists will not even get involved and send out all their bear hides to a proffessional tannery.
