Guest bcbaldy24
I am currently hunting a finger of woods, in PA, that leads to corn field, and food plot..... I know there a plenty of deer in the area.... But the deer are not coming out until well after dark. Is this because it is still early season???? Also.... what time should i be climbing my tree in the am/pm?????
m gardner
Setup a stand to watch the area you want to hunt from a distance to see what the deer are doing without you there. Also look at the ground. If the majority of the tracks are heading into the corn/food plot then they are going to feed and probably in the afternoon. If they are heading back to cover then they go through in the morning. If they go both ways then either time is good. If you are seeing them too late to shoot then you'll need to take a chance and setup closer to where they bed. Mark
Guest bcbaldy24
thanks.... Another question is.... Will they start to arrive sooner as they become more active? Or should i try calling?
shockwave
thanks.... Another question is.... Will they start to arrive sooner as they become more active? Or should i try calling? with the weather being as warm as it`s been they aren`t gonna move until later. If you know where there entering the fields, try setting up 50 to 100 yards in the woods close to the trail their using to get into the field.. buckbuster11
This time of year can be pretty slow regardless. How are getting into this area to hunt? If you are walking through the field in the morning and/or when you are leaving in the evening that could be a problem. How close is the bedding area? Tominator
Hot weather will slow their movement somewhat. Evening sits for us right now are starting around 4:30 or 5. Morning hunts, about 1/2 hour before daylight, around 6:30 I guess.
Tominator
thanks.... Another question is.... Will they start to arrive sooner as they become more active? Or should i try calling? Yes, and yes. I also believe in the moon. You will start seeing earlier movement as the moon works towards full, which is today I think. 2 weeks with the new moon should really start heating up, depending on the temps. Blind calling can pay off I think. I don't do it much, but it has paid off in the past. Last Saturday I got a little buck to respond to the rattle bag.
