Leo
Read this. Not laced with hate and stupidity. The article does make some valid points. http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/015/452yoxdo.asp?pg=
stevebeilgard
now that is an excellent read, leo. it is certainly something to consider for those thinking of pulling the lever for him. however, since i can find no legitimate reason to vote for him, and plenty of reasons to not vote for him, my vote will have to go elsewhere. in fact, i may have to vote AGAINST a person this time, rather than FOR a person. pretty sad situation, overall.... nativetexan
I would say that is a pretty fair assessment. He seems to me like a person who seeks titles, even if he does nothing with them. Honestly, he's a bs artist, and a lot of people are falling for his b.s. It will catch up to him and take him down hard. Lets just hope he doesn't take us down with him. One might also conclude from that article, and his public persona, that he takes the path of least resistance. A horrible trait in a leader faced with making difficult decisions on people's lives and the well being of the American citizen. I figure him as the type that if Iran launched a nuke at us that he would be on the phone trying to talk it out instead of pushing buttons in return. That scares the crap out of me. The most important thing in this election to me is national security. Without it, we are unable to argue amongst ourselves with clear minds on other topics. If security is not THE platform of any candidate, their priorities are screwed up, and it places serious doubt in my mind that their intentions and plans for this country are true and worthwhile enough to give them the opportunity to exercise them. To me, Obama does not have the skills nescessary to secure this nation. McCain, kinda on the fence, but at least he has the knowledge first hand of what is required of a leader when the country's security is in question. oldksnarc
His resume may be impressive. But, like his career, he is an empty suit.
slugshooter
Definitely a good read, my only thoughts are this. While educated at Columbia, and then Harvard, it is true that his law degree basically would have taken him anywhere he wanted to go, and instead of starting out as a 50k a year public defender, he could have gotten a 500k job at some high powered law firm in New York or Chicago. One has to realize though, and this is from my own research into law schools when I had debated going, is that a great percentage of Harvard law school grads go into public service. While I was in school, basically I was told that Harvard, while prestigious, is basically a training ground for future upper level government management. Think about it, when you look at the people who are mostly in charge of our government, most of them went to Ivy League schools. Look at the Supreme Court. Granted, the fact that he mostly accomplished nothing of substance since graduating from law school speaks volumes, but not every lawyer goes to law school to become a millionaire, although he definitely had the potential. The fact that he took a job as a lecturer in Chicago, and basically put more effort into that is a concern. I wonder what one of his lectures was about. Maybe someone told him that being a lecturer would be a good way to practice speaking in front of groups. I find it rather pretentious to write a book right after law school, when you hadn't really done anything worth writing about. That would be like me writing a book right now about my life just graduating with a BS degree at 31 years old. Sure, I have done a lot of things in my life, but nothing worth reading about. The only reason that Barack Obama is where he is at today, is because of his personality. A strong personality is a tough force to go up against, regardless of ideas and qualifications. Kennedy won on his personality, and so did Clinton. Carter had the down home good old boy persona. Age to me is not a factor, because Reagan had a great personality, and was effective as a speaker, "The Great Communicator", which was honed by his years as an actor. I wonder if Obama has any acting experience?
wtnhunt
Interesting article. I still wonder how he paid back those loans, or maybe a better question might be paid them off for him? Obama has claimed his family had nothing.
JJL
It makes a person wonder why so many people in this country are willing to hire this guy........... Are they uninformed??? Are they unintelligent??? Are they apathetic??? Are THEY prejudice??? Or all of the above??? When this election is over, the underlying motivation of most voters will lie in one simple fact. The Republicans have done a horrible job over the last eight years. Not Bush himself, but the Republican Party as a whole. They have left their base and forgotten where they came from. They have put their tails between their legs and sat down instead of standing up and fighting for what's right. Tonight is the last debate. The "Maverick" had best loose control and call O'Bama what he is, or this thing is over. Another lackluster performance like we seen in the last one will signal the end for McCain/Palin and the US as we know it.

He needs to take off the gloves and put it in Obama's face.
stevebeilgard
You've got that right. He needs to take off the gloves and put it in Obama's face. yep. he sure better. he also needs to let the republicans know he has a stone or 2. so far, i don't see a fighter. but, i'm not a mccain guy, either. i'm just anti obama , and that is sure a poor reason to cast a vote. and jim.... did you see that clip by howard stern where he asks folks on the street about obama? he asks 3 different folks the same question: 1) who are you voting for? all 3 say obama. 2) do you like obama's anti- abortion stance or his stay in iraq position the best? (obviously mccains position) and all 3 say it's obama's anti abortion stand. 3) will sarah palin make obama a good vice president? all 3 say yes, sarah was a good choice for obama. so, i'm going to go with the "uninformed" part of your question and answer "undoubtedly".
