Buck~Nasty
So I recently got a Knight lk93 54 cal.. So I've bought a scope and the 209 conversion kit for it, And installed both. Does anyone have any information on this gun? I've only owned Cva's and there were 50 cal's. Like what's the best load for this gun. Also, I found some pryodex(SP?) pellets on cabela's for 26$ Their 60 Grain pellet's, Would they be any good? Thanks for the help guys. wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. I know there are some knight shooters here, I am not one of them. Think probably would be best to work up your loads. Might also read through here.
Buck~Nasty
I read your muzzleloading 101 as soon as I found this site. It's very helpful. I'm looking forward to learning new stuff from all you guys. Thanks.
billkay
I would not use any more than 100 grains of powder max, in that gun. Try several different bullets and weights but something in the 300grn range will probably be a good starting point. Installing the 209 system will allow you to use pellets but I'd go with 2-50 grain pellets to start.
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
I am not real familiar with the model of knight you have. Is it an open breach model. I asume so because of requiring a conversion kit. My knight bighorn is I believe a similar model but in 50 cal. I would strongly suggest you consider loose powder as the only pellets made for the 54 cal are 60 gr pellets. This severly restricts your load options to 60 or 120 gr loads I too would not go more than two pellets. Even though the old 54 cal will throw a big hunk of lead I chose the 50 cal because of the availability of bullets and variety of sabots available for them. The knight bighorn and the knight wolverine are made the same way as my lk93. My papaw told me about using loose powder. I'm still deciding~. I put the 209 conversion on it. PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
Ok I thought it was very similar. First of all you have a green mountain barrel which is great. You also have a timiny trigger which is also great. I have mine shooting touching holes 5 shot groups at 50 yds. At 100 yds on a good day I can shoot about 1 1/2 inch groups. I use only 80 gr of real bp and have shot through both sides of a 55 gal drum at 50 yds, traveled another 35 yds and dug a foot long trench in the sod before stopping. I have also killed several deer with this set up and it took em out real quick. All pass throughs. Infact I killed a doe quartering to me and the bullet clipped the front shoulder blade and traveled all the way to in front of the back leg where it exited and finally after going through about 2 feet of deer lodged in the opposite back leg. The xtp bullet had expanded from 45 cal to between 63 and 64 cal.
Hoosierbuck
LK-93 is the Wolverine, at least it was when I bought mine in .50 in 1992. That one came with a maximum suggested load of 100 grains. I have killed a bunch of deer with mine, and I am sure you will too. HB
