browtine2
I shoot an Encore and have tried all the powders, loose and pellets and have always had to swab after 3 shots because of a burn ring and difficulty loading even powerbelts. That problem is solved by Blackhorn 209, after reading about it in Gunhunter magazine I had to try it. It's as good as that writer said, I shot 8 shots and the last pushed as easy the first. My hands are crippled with arthritis and I have never been able to shoot sabots because of loading them. I tried the Harvester Scorpion HP in the new crushrib sabot and they push as easy as Powerbelts and were very accurate. I would highly recomend both products. The Blackhorn 209 was sort hard to find cause its new but Western seemed glad to assist all they could after I emailed them. The Harvester bullets I buy from Graf & Sons they are also about 1/3 the cost of Powerbelts. I wish you all safety and great luck as hunt'in seasons are here again. Widowmaker
I tried it and will never look back to pyrodex or 777. The 15th shot pushed in just as easy as the first. This product is a dream come true!! Everything they say is true!
punkinslinger
What is the comparison to T7 pellets as far as amount to use??? I use 2 50 grain pellets in my TC Omega now. Thanks
browtine2
Blackhorn 209 I use 100 grains it measures like any other powder, by volume. It is also loose powder which I didn't mention. It seems to have less recoil unsual for a loose powder.
wtnhunt
Thanks for the review. May have to try it out next year.
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
About the only bad side to the Blackhorn powder is you have to be careful what rifle you shoot it out of. A friend on another site tried it and loves it too but when he shot it in a knight disk rifle it absolutely destroyed the disk. He also shot it from an open breech rifle and had 209 primer fragments hit his face. No damage but as long as that powder is shot from a closed breech rifle there should be no problems. The other negative is the cost. It is very expensive and you only get 10 oz per bottle.
EKYhunter
I've heard nothing but excellent reviews regarding this powder and want to try some next year. I've also heard great things about the Harvester Sabots you mentioned. They are made here in KY.

I think I am going to try it this year also ... I will use the Hornady SST ez load sabot with it. We have a pretty good supply of it but your right its sorta hard to find. AJ
I am on my 4th jug of this stuff this fall. It's great stuff. High velocity like T7 except no crud ring. I have shot over 40 shots without cleaning and still get 4" groups at 300 yards from my Omega with 300 gr bonded SW. I am using it for elk and my muley hunt this weekend. I also use it in my Knight Disc Elite using the red FPJ. I am using 110 gr bu volume or 78.0 gr by weight of BH209 behind a 350 gr Hornady FPB. It will shoot 1.5 MOA from my Knight and it packs a wallop. There is another new BP sub coming out next year. It's called IMR White Hots. I think we will be getting a bunch of new and better BPO subs in the next few years.
kyarcher
I bought some also but have yet to get out to test it. This is my first ML and looking for a good deer bullet for it. I like the Harvester Brand Saber Tooth and Scorpion Funnel point. Also may try the Barnes Expander MZ.
