RTF
well...its a mountain lion...dont know why you cannot disclose the location...makes me doubt it. Because it will be hunted. Thats why. I gave the county location.I'm not going to give the GPS cord, so give me a break. Furthermore theres nothing for you to doubt. I have been trying to get proof for years and even had pictures a few years ago, but that was not enough for me to post about it since pics can be edited. This was caught on a game camera. The DNR says we are all crazy and that here are no mountian lions in NY and it will take someone to kill one or hit it with their car before they would ever believe it. And then they may not believe it then. Trust me when I say, that this lion will be hunted if it's found out were this video was taken. I want other opinions because I am already being told, it is not a mountian lion but that of a big house cat or bobcat.
Squirrelhunter91
Looks legit to me. The tail is too long for that to be a bobcat and if house cats can suddenly reach 4 feet long and 80+ pounds then its a house cat. If not, it's a legit Eastern Cougar. RTF
So far thats 3 for lion and 2 for house cat. I added a second video taken at night of the same cat. Take a peak.
wtnhunt
I don't think that is a housecat Cliff. I don't know too much about mountain lions, but that sure looked like one to me. The posture and tail in the first clip kind of look like other pics/video I have seen of big cats. You have any reference points in the pile of debris to size the cat? Texan_Til_I_Die
I've seen dozens (if not 100's) of bobcats in the wild, and that definitely is not one. And unless I'm grossly misjudging the size, I'd say it's about 4 - 5 times as big as a large feral housecat. I can't think of any other viable explanation other than a mountain lion. Grant-KS
Looks like lion to me. The long legs and muscular shoulders and that long tree limb tail, dark tip, appears to be sort of a tawny color, and the head doesn't look like the scruffy bobcat, or a domestic cat. Officials have always denied the existence of them in Kansas until a farmer out cutting firewood shot one, and got in deep doodoo. My brother saw a young one no more than 15' away in the seedhouse where he worked several years ago. 2 other employees also confirmed that it was a mountain lion. There have been bobcats around there, including one the secretary met face to face in the loft, and she said this one wasn't a bobcat. sasksheds
They shot one here right in a guys back yard in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, a couple of weeks ago.No kidding. It had a radio collar on it & was from North Dakota. Must have followed the river system up.
Guest Don76
I have personally seen one here in NY. The DEC denies their existance, because they released them to control the deer. They don't want to insight panic in the general populace. As for shooting one in NY, you don't want to get caught if you do. Most taxidermists I know, won't touch them with a 100 foot pole, unless you have a legal tag for it. My guess is you will not get your hands on a legal tag, even if you hit the cat with your truck. Hope you figure out if it reallys is a cat. The image of the one that I saw will stay with me forever, as it was a complete shock to see it roaming the woods I was hunting in. MichiganHunter
no way....it's to hard to say YES real mt. lion, there is nothing to put in perspective, But what i see is a large-ish house cat it's very very dark for a mt. lion and it looks like a small rock pile that a house cat is jumping on, go and put the camera in the same spot and have a human walk the same path, it seams very small, sorry.
