Hey well i never really got my plot in the field going but looking to start a plot in the woods on each side of a trail the deer use. What seeds are good for a no till product. The kind where i can rake and throw seed to dirt contact. Looking to do so in the spring cleared some of the new sapplings and briars today . I was looking at Biologic or the harvest kind . What yall use . I still have a big jug of roundup to use. Ill search around and see what is good , Im in Connecticut.

Thanks

Dan

on a last minute plan I mowed a spot deep in the woods and then came back a day later and sprayed the mowed area with roundup and broadcasted Evolved Habitats Throw and Grow on the same day. I checked it yesterday and was amazed at how great the plot looked and already getting deer activity in it.

thats the kind i meant evolved habitat throw kind. I dont want to spend a lot on a seed for a plot thats a throw kind. Is it a perennial or annual kind they sell?

it's an annual. Probably got the entire plot done for less than 15 bucks. Ten bucks for the seed, a little round up, and a little diesel for the tractor.

We have had fair luck with EH Throw and Grow but have found Whitetail Institutes Secret spot works even better. Up here in NY we planted in late July over a soybean planting and the plot did well.

It was an experiment to see if we could grow the bean early and something later in the same space. We had deer coming to the plot all summer and then keep coming in even now.

First you need to check the soil's pH. Most food plot favorites usually require a soil pH of atleast 6.0. As for growing in a wooded area; you'll need to clear out the areas to allow sunlight to get in, as most (if not all) food plot materials require atleast sunlight up to 12 pm.
