PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
Well at my age all mornings I can get out of bed are good. This morning I decided to get up real early and take my Knight Bighorn along on a doe hunt. PA has a 1 week early any type muzzleloader doe season going on right now. I went to a favorite spot and sat down. As it got light the squirrels started their morning shopping and were none too quiet about it. I sat there enjoying the sights and sounds of the woods waking up. Birds twittering, a grouse making its birdy sounds and the squirrels but no deer. That all changed shortly after 9 when I heard what certainly was not squirrels off to my right. Sure enough there were 6 deer milling around at about 50 yds. I worked around to get a shot and finally got a full grown one in the clear and dang if that bighorn didn't just go off all on its own. Well it seemed to anyhow. That doe went only about 20 inches straight down. I reloaded as I could see its head moving a little. Just at that time the 5 remaining deer came back and stood there staring at her. I had another tag but being about half a mile from the truck I let them finally after another 10 minutes and only about 20 yds from me walk away. I am not as young as I used to be and dragged one from that spot 2 years ago and was totally exhausted when I finally got it back and loaded up. I had my tree lounge tree stand that I put the wheels from my 2 wheeled garden cart on but it was back at the truck. After dragging this deer to the top of a little hill I decided to walk back to the truck and get the Cart. It helped a whole lot but it was nearly 1:00 till I got home. Aah the freezer is starting to fill up.
lungshooter
Cograts on what sounds like a picture perfect hunt. Smacking a doe and letting the boys grow.

PA_Spike_King
Yeah Congrats Pop, BUT he failed to tell you all that it is my spot he is shooting the deer in and he can't find his own spots to shoot deer. LOL
007hunter
Congrats on the deer! FYI - it's illegal in PA to shoot 2 deer consecutively without first tagging the first one.

PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
PA SPIKE KING only thinks it is his spot. I did hunt the rest of the week and let a couple of young ones walk. I still have modern firearms season to fill the other doe and the buck tag. I am so old that I was successful in getting a special crossbow permit to hunt with but I missed a perfect shot from the same tree the other day. I hit a small limb and the deer was safe.
