GWSmith
I walked to the back of the corn field and climbed... Got the harness adjusted correctly to the tree... Pulled up the fanny pack and ML... Attached the fanny pack to the tree... Hung the ML on the hook........and heard some leaf noise behind me:confused: Turned my head around to see him standing there @ 65 yards. Waited until he stepped behind a tree and grabbed the ML and turned. When I got on him with the scope all I could see was his rear end but he was broadside to me. I kept on him and watched his head stick out from around the tree on the other side. He was a 2-1/2 yr old 5 point...I asked myself that question "Will this be a good first Muzzleloader deer for me"? Before I knew it the hammer went back and I waited for him to step forward...he did...I aimed for the heart...BOOM.... He jumped off to the side about 20 feet from where I shot at him and stood there with his head down. I fully expected him to drop right there...then he started feeding again:eek: NOOOOOOO...So I reloaded as fast as possible and tried to get on him again but just as I did he flickered his tail and went out of sight up the hill he had just came down. Took the primer out and hooked the rifle back up to the pull rope. So I climbed down after gathering all my gear and figured I was in for a tracking job. Got safely on the ground left the climber on the tree, put my fanny pack on, and went over to where he stood...Zip-Zilch-Zero sign:( Followed his trail I saw from the tree and still nothing:( Followed his tracks for another half an hour...nothing:( "Whiffer Dust Jet #1 2008":o

Rem308
haha, that's some funny stuff. As for the shot, it happens. I had a clean miss on a doe last season and I still don't know how I missed her! Hang in there, you'll get another chance soon and capitalize on it. Good luck.
