Muff
Well the BIG wind mill project is well under way on the Island I live on.....here are some pics of the many things that are going on....... here is the big power cable coming ashore from the main land....this is how the power will be transfered off the Island here is the base being filled in our back field....there will be 3 towers on our farm. Lauren and I standing on the base while they are filling it Lauren and Sarah after it is filled....I have been taking them out to see as much as I can so they may remember some of this when they grow up. and here is the first 2 parts of the first tower going up....if the wind drops down in the next few days they should have it all up by the weekend. OJR
I think that is one way to help conserve and use the wind! Hopefully it works out!
Tominator
Ironic that they need the wind to subside so they can put a windmill up. What kind of kickback are you getting off that Joe? Hopefully free electricity.
QDMAworks4me
Looks good Joe, hope everything works out for you. We have abunch of those around here and there are talks of a bunch more going in. The only part that I don't understand is that the power created is not used in our town it is shipped through wires down to NY cty which is about 6 hours away

Royalties vary according to contract and the amount of power generated, but the average for west Texas is $600 per tower per month to the landowner. The ranch I hunt has 27 going up on it right now. The guy that owns it will be getting about $16,000 per month.
RangerClay
Will they let you strap a treestand to the pole! HEY! What's up with the facial hair? :D
ThethirdI
My father-in-law makes the towers and the casings for the generators at the steel plant he works at in Pennsylvania. The company was about to go under when they got the contract and now they have work slated for the next 12 years. A lot of jobs were saved in that small town because of the windmill contract. We have a couple around here in Ohio. Toledo is also the current Solar Power Mecca of the U.S. and there are more and more jobs being created from all of the solar plants going in around here. Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd like to have some solar power and wind power for my house!
