Tink
I ma please to report that my main squeeze Carol Kelly AKA Texas Bow Goddess took a dandy Hill Country Texas 10 point Buck deer last Friday at 7: 30 AM Oct 17th. at tinks Camp Verde outpost ranch, in Kerr Co, Texas. We had seen a non typical 6 x 4 with an Acorn tipped Antler, and we called him The Acorn buck. Carol started bowhunting him about Oct 1st and he would never show himself to her. One Day Carol took Meg the dog for a walk and My Acorn walked within 10 yards following a pretty she doe, and he looked carol in the eye at 10 yards and kept walking after the sexy doe. Each day Carol would have between 1 and 5 different bucks under her stand, some 8 & 9 points, but she would not shoot as she wanted the Acorn buck. Carol's Mom is a deer hunter at age 78 and shot a deer last year. Her late Husband Carols Late Daddy kidded her Mom saying she would get a diamond when she shot 10 bucks or a ten Pointer. Mom shot a 10 pointer, and he gave her a diamond studded 10 point buck pendant. Soon After Daddy passed. But daddy had never taken carol Deer hunting, only her mom. So getting this big 10 pointer became an obsession with Carol. She was under pressure as she is having Major Spinal Surgery on Friday Oct 24th to replace three ruptured disks in her neck/spine. At 5 :30 AM Carol got up got dressed in her She Safari Camo and got her Canon GL-2 video cam into her blind below our ranch house. At 7: 30 AM There was enough light to start filming and she waited him out. Carol had lit 2 of Tinks Smoking Sticks All Season and set out her Tinks # 69 Doe In Rut Buck Lure. For the first time this season The wise sly old buck came in and sniffed the magic éxlair's of Tinks # 69 Carol had drawn back her 35# ConCept Archery Mighty Might 29'" bow and held the .029 Green Pin on her Vital Gear Star Track Bow sight on his heart. She touched her Scott Wildcat release and the G 5 Stryker 3 blade 100 grain Broadhead zipped 12 yards and deep into the big bucks chest. Buck Tore our in a left circle with the Bright Pink Crest and the White NAP Quik Spin Speed vanes sticking out. Carol's Beman MFX HIT " 500" Realtree Arrow had found its mark, smack dab in the buck heart! She blinked and wondered if she had been dreaming? Had she shot the Phantom buck? She looked down, her arrow was gone and the GL-2 was running.carol wasn't dreaming this time!!She waited an hour and came down and came and got me, told me to get dressed, as we were going tracking. It was 8:30 AM then, so enough time had elapsed. Starting at the impact site I saw his tracks deep in the soil. We went in the general direction he went and we saw some blood. As the blood trail rounded the edge of my garden fenced to keep deer out, Carol spied her arrow laying in the grass. It was bloody up to the crest, and it was bright, red thick red blood. We split up and had only gone 15 yards when Carol yells Out " I found Him!" Come here quick.!! Carol had gotten her first deer with bow a ten point non typical with freak horn top, the Acorn buck!. There was no rush as the big sleek buck lay still, having died at the 15th target Stakes on our 3D Range. Mr Acorn Buck had only gone 75 yards and lasted maybe 8 or 9 seconds. We did photography and video, and here is the proof. Congrats Carol!!!! Well Done my friend. TinkProud Mentor
