Hoyt03
definitely sweet not much diff then the katera. Right now i'm shooting an 07 Vectrix and if I buy anything it will be a new left over 08 katera.
Chrud
Interesting. Looks like a couple new additions are something similar to the Mathews limb turrets and the Bowtech riser.
HUNTINGMAN
Looks like hoyt has ran out of ideas and is starting to look to bowtech for riser designs.
Flintlock1776
I know my Laser tech does the job. I'm a Hoyt fan!
arrow32
Not a bad looking bow. Not a real fan of that riser tho but hey if it shoots thats all that matters.

Buckeyenut
definitely sweet not much diff then the katera. Right now i'm shooting an 07 Vectrix and if I buy anything it will be a new left over 08 katera. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, no!? One thing I do notice is a weight difference between the Alpha(3.9#) and Katera(4.5#). I like the Katera, but it just seemed too heavy imo. I'm in the market for a new bow, and the Alpha is on the very short list to check out.
Guest huntingMD
Excited about the Alphamax It looks to me like Hoyt as finally addressed the need for the perfect bow. I've been a Hoyt and Matthews fan for years, owning most recently a Trykon and now a Drenalin. I always felt my Trykon was too heavy and a bit bulky for extended hunts, but I will say that the Drenalin is too light. I'm not nearly as convinced about the Drenalin's durability long-term as I was about my Trykon. There are always trade-off's, I suppose. However, the new Alphamax might be the first bow without a shortfall. Although I'm not inclined to spend another $900 this year, I do look forward to shooting it. I wouldn't agree that this is a copy of some bowtech model or engineering. Looks clear to me that the riser and limb design are both very true to Hoyts heritage. PotashRLS
I love my Hoyts. I've been shooting them since 1992. I just wish they would wise up a bit and lengthen up those brace heights. 7" on the new alpha max is not a lot by any means.
Tony
i love my Hoyts, but its just another 32 inch axle to axle bow, that seems to be all the rage at Hoyt. for people with longer draw lengths, the string angle isnt the best with short axle to axle bows. lets see... Alpha Max 32...32 ata Alpha Max 35 ..35 ata Katera............33 ata Avenger Plus...32 ata Powerhawk......32 ata Superhawk......31 ata for me if i had to buy just one bow from Hoyt, it would be the Seven 37 or the Ultraelite. im shooting a 04 Ultratec and a 03 Protec for hunting and a 08 Ultraelite for 3D and Indoor target. but a lot of bowhunters like the short ata bows. i had one for a while and shot many deer with my old Razortec. but i finally realized that i needed a longer axle to axle bow for me to be more accurate. EKYhunter
Looks like a Bowtech to me. I've never been a fan of the TEC riser on the Hoyt. Think I'll stick to my Switchback XT.

ultratec1
Tony you would love the new Vantage pro or the vantage elite!!! I had the opportunity to shoot one last night and all I can say is AMAZING!!!! This will definetly be my shooters bow for this year!!!! The good thing that Hoyt did this year was lighten the Alphamax. The new riser design is machined so that the un-wanted weight was gone. The limb pocket design is a very unique design as well and is nothing like the center pivot riser on a Bowtech. Hoyt has always been real conservative on the IBO speed that they rate their bows at and I will be the first to say that the new Aplhamax will do over the rated IBO if tuned properly. Hoyt listened to what its shooters wanted and came up with a bow for both the target shooters and the hunters. With a lighter hunting bow and a shoot through riser design and longer riser for the Vantage elite. Even though they didnt come out with a bunch of new bows they certainly listened to the consumers and brought out a bow for everyone. They even brought back the SPIRAL cam wooohooo.
