primos buck roar??

I have limited success with any tube calla, I would think the roar would only be good during the rut when the bucks loose their minds. Perhaps it works well on private land with minimal pressure as you see on some of these hunting 'ranches' on TV. Roar outside the rut and you may them all run away.

The doe bleat cans have worked for me but in the main I prefer to just be silent. Works for me;)

I seriously thought about getting one this year...until I looked at the price Walmart wanted for them! It's like $18-$19 here:eek:

Kinda hard to fork out that kind of cash when you've had success with calling in a decent buck last year with a simple grunt tube.

All I did was try to imitate a young buck grunting after a doe bleating....did that for a few sequences then just after one of the sets of young buck grunts I switched to a deeper mature buck grunt...like it had chased away the younger buck!

The buck I called in had trash on the base of his horns where he had recently rub a tree! Whatever he heard...It fired him up;)

I bought one a couple years ago when it came out. I like it. I don't use it for the "roar" much, but IMO it is the best sounded grunt call. I also like the fact you can blow as hard as you want into it, and instead of letting out that duck/goose sound, the grunt just gets louder. I used it in two different areas, one here in the lower peninsula that I bow hunted regularly, had a 1-/12 year old 6 point come in and though I'd see what his reaction would be, he didn't spook or anything, he just lifted his head and walked out to the corn field, which is where he was headed in the first place, so it really had no effect on him. I used it in the upper peninsula for gun season later that year, blind calling, had a buck (couldn't tell how big he was) come in and I first seen him about 80 yards out in some thick stuff, every time I would hit it he would start jumping and thrashing around. Just when I thought he would be close enough for me to get a good look at him, the stopped and kind of just trotted off in the other direction. not sure if it was the blind he saw and didn't like or what, but IMO it worked in that situation.

My favorite call is still my can call, but for grunt tubes, I like this one the best.:)

Got one two years ago. That same year I shot a six pointer, as luck happened a big 11 pointer came up the open field following a doe. The rut was on and I left him have a deep loud grunt, roar. The doe started walking in towards me, I had a doe tag to fill! ;) They stopped, I hit the snort/wheeze. I ticked this buck off so bad, his hair on his neck was standing up, and he was walking stiff legged, and his ears were pinned back on his head. But they then started back up the mountain and then out of sight.

As with any call for deer, it has to be the right time for them to respond! JMHO! But I do carry it everytime I go out, along with a few others.

Exactly! It is without a doubt my favorite grunt call. It has a different sound than the others. Last year I went bowhunting for the first time. I called in four bucks in two hours. I have never had that kind of success with any grunt tube before. I plan on putting it to the test again next weekend.
