Thompson Hawken Kit

Hello,

I'm looking for a Thompson Center traditional Hawken style percussion kit as a project for my son and I to work on together. From what I can gather, the Thompson Hawken is a great gun but I'm not having any luck finding the kit version for sale. Can anyone point me to a place that sells this kit?

I think cabelas has them for sale, don't quote but I think I remember them having one in there.

I'm not sure if T/C offers that anymore. Here is there on-line catalog, http://www.tcarms.com/catalog/ you can look there for it. Or better yet, send them a email and see if they have any in stock.

The kit is not listed in T/C's catalog so I will email them to see if they have any left sitting around.

As for Cabelas, I think the one that they offer is made by CVA. Is that a pretty good gun? I know that they are made in Spain and I have read a few reports on CVA barrel failures. Is that something that I should be worried about?

I know that the Lyman Hawken is supposed to be a good gun but the one that they sell as a kit has a 1 in 66 barrel twist and from what I have been able to pick up that twist is only suited for round balls not sabots and other type loads. Is that correct? Also, I really like the look of the patch box in the stock and the Lyman doesn't have that.

Do y'all have any other reasonably priced kit suggestions?
