HoosierDaddy28
At what point do most of you start rattling in relation to the rut, and when do you feel it is time to put the rattle horns up? Also, how much luck do you Mid western guys like me have rattling?
Illinois59
It's always been early november for me. As far as success, well 9 out of ten times nothing happens. But that tenth time is pretty exciting!
rookieee
It all depends on what state im hunting
wtnhunt
Have never called in a mature buck with rattling here, but have had several young bucks come in. Right now would be a good time here for calling, but should get better in the next couple weeks.

Texan_Til_I_Die
I rattled in 3 bucks yesterday morning while bowhunting. One was a stud, probably 140+, but he never got closer than 80 yards. This early in the season, I like to rattle in loud, but short bursts. And mornings are much better than evenings. toddyboman
I rattled in a small buck over the weekend.....So I would start NOW!!
rad_112176
Had alot of deer showing up to the horns the last couple of days. Start now, but keep it short and sweet. Not to many going at it hard these days. If you see a buck that won't come in try a little sparing with the horns. Works good this time of year. layin on the smackdown
I've heard a few people say that the mornings are better than evenings...can anyone justify that? Ive heard em fightin in the middle of the night, and in the middle of the day, so why would morning be better than evening? Just curious... All I've got to base my statement on is 40 years of observing and hunting deer. I've really gotten into the rattling thing the last 8 - 10 years, and over that period I'd estimate that I've rattled in approximately 10 times as many bucks during the morning hours as I have in the afternoons. Can't tell you why, just that it's so.
HOYTnMUZZYboy
I think its time to rattle in Northern Illinois. I have rattled in quite a few lil bucks and a few decent bucks. I also rattled in the 8pt in my avatar. When he came in he was stiff legged with his ears pinned back. He was looking to fight.
