huntaholic
Got out of the stand and bent down to grab my bow. Then I heard crashing 20yds away, only to see a 140 class 10pt running away:mad:. He ran about 50yds stopped and looked at me for a bit and then ran off. Should I wait awhile before I hunt that stand again?

BowtechTurkeyHunter
He has no clue what you are; the next time he sees you you will be in a stand 15 or more feet up at full draw I wouldnt worry about it one bit. Steve
backwoods07
Eek, I wish there was one right answer, but getting the exact habits of a single whitetail right is almost impossible. If he was there, odds are another big buck might be there as well. It might be a couple of days before he comes back, or a couple weeks, or he might be back tomorrow. Illinois59
Tell me where you stand is located and i will go and check out the situation for you. I have to agree with the others, i would go back out and hunt the stand.
layin on the smackdown
GO BACK!!! its only one deer...that ain't the only shooter around where your stand is, so go back...end of discussion:D Just think, if it was a little darker you would have never seen his antlers, and you wouldn't be so worked up over it, and you wouldn't be second guessing whether or not to sit there again...go for it, your in good shape
brad dryden
I had a big deer see me in my stand came almost right under me and spooked him few days latter seen him about 100yds away. Same thing with another deer and kept seeing him but couldent get a shot. Depends on the deer if he seen you climbing out not good I might hunt the same area but move my stand about 60yds in another way but if the rut was on I would stick with it. pointing_dogs_rule
What a delemia. I will be the one that disagrees with the rest. If he saw you he knows that you are in that location. More over he probably picked up your scent after you left. These deer are not dumb. He may be in that area, however, he will be very cautious when nearing that tree and may stay 100 yards away until rut makes him STUPID. If that is not the deer that you want then continue to hunt that stand for other deer. If he is the only big boy in the area then you may want to rest that stand. Just my thoughts. good luck to all the dog
stevebeilgard
the deer are getting into the rut, and will be travelling a lot now. go back. you may find him, and you may find another one. but this deer was not overly spooked and will forget within an hour. Washi
I say move the stand a little ways. He will look at that tree when he comes through. Just move it closer to where you jumped him from.
Big12Eric
If its an area where you have alot of does travel through i would leave it there. Maybe not hunt it for a couple of days. You know though it is getting to be that time of year where the bucks only have one thing on there mind. From my experiences bucks start to let their guard down this time of year and when there after a doe will come upwind or downwind they just want to find that doe. Don't know where u guys down there are rut wise. Here in Wisconsin things have started to heat up pretty good. If that dang wind would slow down a little though. Good luck on your quest for the big one.
