Chadwick
Has anyone used it & if you have any success? I bought this grunt call and watched the DVD. It looks awesome, but I know everything sold is always hyped up. It sounds awesome with just the regular grunt...not sure about the growl. BowtechTurkeyHunter
Nice call but it has its place just make sure you use the growl correctly and in the right time. Good luck with it you wont be disappointed. Steve

layin on the smackdown
I Love it!!! brought in and drilled a giant 178 inch last fall with it- Nov 4th to be exact...like someone said...its a lot of timing. i think pretty much any time in November is a good time to use the growl, and even some in December... Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I have bought one about 3 years ago. A year later I bought the Primos buck roar. IMO the primos call is hands down the better call. As I stated in another thread similar to this one in the bow hunting room, I use it more for just grunts rather than the growl/roar. The primos call can be blown into as hard as you can, the grunt or roar only gets louder, with the M.A.D. call, it gives off that "goose" type sound if you blow to hard. The wheeze call connected to the primos call is a plus also.

HOYTnMUZZYboy
I have one and all my buddies have one. There workin pretty good right now. Were not gettin any monsters to come runnin yet but seems like every other day or so the bucks that come in get a lil better. Biggest thing is to not over use it. I have never heard it in the wild myself. And I have seen quite a few deer on stand. I think most people over use it and scare deer off with it. IMO. Good luck! fly
Started using mine last week (not as a growl, just light grunts and pops). It brought in a 1&1/2 year old 4-pointer that was very interested in finding the deer that made the sound. Hung around for 20 minutes. A few days later I used it and there was a doe about 70 yards from me in thick cover (I didn't know she was there). It had no effect on her. I then rattled just before getting down (around 10am) and she blew and ran off. I like it and plan to use it heavily in another week. I'll wait 2 weeks before I rattle. Jorden
I bought one a few years ago and didnt reall like it. If you blow too hard it makes kind of a wierd noise, almost like a duck. The one time I did use it I had a little six point come all the way across the field. I bought the primos buck roar last year and havent got a chance to use it yet but it sounds much better. AdvantageTimberLou
I have one and love it. Great sound and its my new favorite call.
nhbowhunter
I have used both and would have to agree with what was previously said. The Primos Roar is my pick. It does not get "goosey" sounding if you blow to hard. The MAD Growl is not as loud and it's design is a little big and bulky. As for whether or not it works? Never had success "roaring" or "growling". The sex ratios up here are not condusive to extreme calling BUT the Roar makes incredible grunts. That alone makes it worth buying. camocop
threw mine away, Primos Power Buck is much better...imo
brownie65
agree with everyone else. The MAD call is a great grunt call. As said it can sound funky if blown to hard. I have not tried a Primos but would like to get one & try it.

wtnhunt
Do not have the roar or the growl call, but I did watch a 1.5 year old buck chasing around does and a button buck a couple weeks ago and he growled/roared a few times as well as grunted quite a bit. I tried imitating the call with the true talker and was able to make what I think is almost the exact same sound by cupping my hand over the bottom of the call and blowing a little harder at the end of the call and opening my hand up. I usually carry a different call with me. After a year the true talker I have still smells like an old tire and the tone changes all the time, the reed moves around inside too easy for some reason. Squirrelhunter91
I bought the MAD Buck Growl last year at the end of deer season. This is my first year testing it out and I just don't think that it's loud enough in the woods. The growl and grunt just aren't as loud as my old grunt call. ruttinbuc
Ildrhnter gave me his and said if I could get it to work I can have it. Well, it is a piece of crap, but will find a place in my grunt call collection....
