Jeramie
Its Muzzle loader season in Okieland. I went hunting last night and decided to hit one of my favorite hot spots. The bucks should be chasing does and I have one spot that is great for does. Ive had the same stand in the same tree for about 10 years. The tree has literally grown around the fixed stand. It cant come out of the tree. Its an old White Oak. The deer love to feed under it. Its an easy stand to hunt too. I dont use a harness (tisk, tisk) in this tree. After you get into the stand there are countles limbs as big as my leg all around you basically caging you in. However, to climb the tree you have to jump and grab a screw in step I put in at roughly 6' so the cows would scratch on it. Once you have that left hand hold you reach directly above with your right for the first limb at roughly 6'-4" and up you go! Well, not so much any more..... The last time I climbed this tree was back in January. I went up like a squirrel but that changed last night. It took everything I had to haul my rear up in that tree. It was pretty sad really. I grunted, groaned, and had to stop for a minute with my feet a meere 24" from the ground. At one point I almost gave up. Finally my pride wouldnt let me hit the ground so with all the gusto I could find I hauled my chunky hind end up that tree. Now today I have a huge red spot from busted blood vessles in the palm of my left hand. This gettin old thing is for the birds....

Jeramie
"I dont use a harness" ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,keep that up, and you won't be getting any older.. Just in this one tree. I always use one with my climber. However this tree cages you in. If you fall youre only going about 12" before hitting another branch. wtnhunt
LOL, some pretty humorous stuff posted here. Never had any troubles climbing or pulling myself up, but the closer I draw to the big 40 and the few extra lbs I have added on are making it maybe just a little bit more challenging. The aches and pains the day after are certainly getting worse the older I get though.
