Swamphunter
I checked this on Snopes.com and it is still "undetermined". Says research in progress....can't wait to hear if this is true or not... How would you pronounce this child's name: "Le-a"??? Leah?? NO Lee - A?? NOPE Lay - a?? NO Lei?? Guess Again. It's pronounced "Ledasha" Oh yes...you read it right. This child attends a school in Livingston Parish, LA. Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong. SO, if you see something come across your desk like this please remember to pronounce it correctly. When the mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said "the dash don't be silent." MCH
I'm not 100% positive, Swampy, but I believe there is something similar happening at a local school. I'll ask a co-worker to make sure though.
Tominator
I've had a few weird ones in my years of teaching. Had Dennis Hopper and Britney Spears a couple years ago. Crystal Chandolier was a good one. No challenging ones since I left inner-city Toledo though. "The dash don't be silent..." Classic.

QDMAworks4me
Yeah after teaching in a city school system for 10 years now, it is pretty amazing. I am sure most of the teachers on this sight would tell you that once you meet the parents you can tell why the students act the way they act!!! Texan_Til_I_Die
Another reason you should need a license to have kids. And be fluent in at least one recognized language. BTW - I have a friend who's family name is Saxon. When he and his wife were expecting their first child, I tried to get him to name the kid Anglo. I am sure most of the teachers on this sight would tell you that once you meet the parents you can tell why the students act the way they act!!! LOL! You sure got that right! I had a kid named Hondo Lane last year. Dad was a huge John Wayne fan. Right now I have a student named Genesis. They pronounce it, "Hen-a-cee" Go fig. Hoosierbuck
I heard of a local kid named Shi'thead. (Shi thee{accent} ad) And to think, I was so unimaginative as to resort to the Old Testament of the Bible and found Sarah, Benjamin and Isaac. I don't think my kids will get punched because of their names, and they actually mean something. HB
